The Strategy Research in Student Recruitment of Private Universities of Technology in Kaohsiung Area

Hsiang, Jia-chien 23 June 2004 (has links)
This research is to learn the recruitment strategy and the school advantages of private universities of technology in Kaohsiung. Two private universities of technology in Kaohsiung area were selected for this research. The questionnaire of school resource advantage cognition was designed for students selected from these two schools. Interviews with related administrative staff from these two schools were also proceeded for cross analysis and for verification of the statistic result. The core competence of the schools was demonstrated. The application, development, and accumulation of the core competence would then establish sustainable competitive advantages of the universities of technology. The following observations were obtained. 1.The advantages in geographic location and convenience in traffic do attract students. Schools in weak situations mostly put efforts on improving the life's mechanism and lift the expediency to the traffic in order to reduce the difference from their strong competitors. Land limitation can be adjusted by increasing the floor squares in the buildings. 2.The advantages in teacher quality owned by new universities of technology can not be caught up by their competitors within short period of time. To encourage the acquirements of the teacher¡¦s professional certificates and raise the academic research ability would be important in the future. 3.Most schools would develop courses on both theoretical and practical bases. But multi-degree system causes the difficulty in course design and complexity in administrative works. Therefore, simplification of the degree-system is a direction to advance. 4.Currently, career consultations are supported by database systems and some other electronic mechanism. To promote the employment opportunities for students, the cooperation between the school and the industry has significant effect and competent alumni in the industry can provide rich job information. Thus effective management to the precious alumnus resource is important. 5.The most significant competitive advantage of student recruitment is the school¡¦s reputation. It is worth establishing a specialized unit to integrate resources and develop marketing strategies for promoting the school¡¦s specializations. Keeping active relationships with the mass media to raise the reputation of the school is also essential. 6.The advertisement for recruitment of students should be initiative, creative and active and there should be sufficient fund, personnel and activities. Technological and vocational school fair is the best opportunity to show the distinguished features and raise the reputation of the school; therefore thorough planning to the fair is crucial.

The research for the international dynamic competitive in Taiwan Drain Cleaners industry¡Aone of the section industry of Hand Tool¡XA case study of A company

Wu, Kuei-Kun 24 August 2011 (has links)
Abstract With the trend of globalization and the pricing competition caused by China¡¦s manufacturing business, the quality of products is not the only issue that companies are facing now. There are some external as well as internal challenges that companies must face. External challenges include the competitive trend caused by the dynamic environmental movements and the operation pressure caused by facing competitors; internal operation issues concern the integration of the value chain and the continuous improvements in innovative managing skills. The case of research is the largest company professionally specialized in manufacturing drain cleaners in Taiwan. The company¡¦s sales are entirely dedicated to exporting to the international market; and OEM and ODM are its main type of business. Since drain cleaners are categorized as part of the hand tools industry, we must study the trends and activities in such industry. The business opportunities in the hand tools industry mainly depend on consumer¡¦s demand, providing different services to different individual buyers, and the opportunities derived from the rise of the home improvement market. Therefore, in the hand tools market, drain cleaner manufacturers should take into consideration that products which suit the new generation¡¦s need better and are with high economic values are more likely to satisfy the consumer needs. For the main thesis of this paper, we will be looking at discussions about the innovative and competitive strategies from literatures related, and the research will be based on J. Barney¡¦s resource base theory. Through the individual case analysis and roots study in grounded theory, I hope to achieve the following research purposes in this paper: 1. To analyze the operating state and the competitive advantages in the drain cleaner market in hand tools industry in Taiwan. 2. How the company in case study responds to the external challenges and which competitive advantages and strategies the company should take when facing such challenges. The conclusions to the company competitiveness in the case study based on relevant researches are as follows: 1. Regarding the case company¡¦s competitiveness against foreign markets, cost competitiveness is not recommended as the main business strategy, but rather to develop and strengthen the high-price, high quality markets as the recommended strategy. 2. Facing the competitions that the rise of the Asian market and the emergence of the Chinese consumer market brought, I suggest that the company in the case study, with its regional economic advantage, should consider a strategic alliance with European or American buyers or strategically to consider a joint venture with them. 3. Regarding providing useful information about the competitive market for the company, cost accounting standard procedures and other statistics related forms are strongly recommended to be established within the company in the case study, in order to provide critical information for managing department. 4. With the coming of the era of internationalization, the company in the case study should design an international personnel training system as well as a strategic human resource department to face the related incoming issues that internationalization may bring. The Influence of Core Technical Competencies to Compamy Transformation ¡V An analysis of Grounded Theory

Hou, Yung-chien 23 July 2004 (has links)
This thesis is a case study about the transformation processes for a petrochemical corporation in Taiwan during the last thirty-nine years (1965~2003). We adopted the Grounded theory as the research method to probe the relationships between growth and change for the case company. We had several interviews with senior managers. In addition, the public reports about the company are also collected, such as news and financial analyses on newspapers or journals. There have been four phases of company development that are divided by three changes. According to the findings in this research, it is concluded that most of the transformation or change decisions were based on the core competence. Therefore, the R&D capabilities that have been much emphasized by the company provide the speed and flexibility for the company to adapt the industrial dynamics. Another important factor is the vision of the executive managers. They make good decisions because they foresee the company needs for the growth associated with the environmental changes. Finally, we have found that the core technical competence plays the essential role for the corporate transformation. Enterprises should well recognize their cores and then develop proper business strategies. They should plan for changes and incorporate them into organizational process to establish a company¡¦s culture

In recent years, the rapid change of business climate, has cause a dramatic increase in investment risk throughout the world. The days of exponential growth and high profit margins are gone. Industries are facing an overly competitive environment and down-cycling in many sectors. Companies are focusing more on cutting costs, outsourcing manpower, shifting manufacturing to China, organizational downsizing in order to maintain a competitive edge. In the other hand, industry is transforming in ways like never before. New hiring practices and modern horizontal management structuring have given both managements and applicants a better outlook of working value. The concept of employee dispatching is gradually prevailing. However, what¡¦s the meaning and benefit of using outsourcing strategies to the employers? Case study is adopted in this research, and this is an exploratory study. We try to sketch the outline of the local dispatch method and compare the dispatched work agency and user enterprise in Taiwan. Furthermore, according to the above findings to foresee that how workforce outsourcing works in the near future. From this research, we can conclude that¡G 1¡BThe main considerations of company using dispatching workers are more focus on organizational flexibility and reduce the risk of hiring. 2¡BThe values of using dispatch workers are arising different benefits along with the scale of each organization, industrial nature and core competence of different businesses. 3¡BEmployers will measure the cost of hiring by themselves with the transaction cost of outsourcing before their decision of using dispatching workforce. 4¡BThe so-called ¡§Core Value¡¨ of each business which has few related to the ¡§difficulty¡¨ of the jobs, but mostly defined by business owners¡¦ recognition to the job function / position. 5¡BIn Taiwan, the outsourcing service is expecting to integrate with HR full functions to be a total solution provider or to develop in depth service to become a specialist. Then the outsourcing shall become not only a value-added service to the companies but also the strategy partner between both parties.
