The relationship among the Taiwan¡¦s multinational corporations¡¦ knowledge management and the organization¡¦s role of human resource management Abstract Today, the commercial environment face the change of globalization, according to improve the corporations¡¦ efficiency and performance, corporations will transfer the core competences and the knowledge of operation practices inside the organization to others organization units, especially to the multinational corporations. Based on Drucker (1993) said, the knowledge workers are the most important property inside the organization. The knowledge need the appropriate persons to practice, creating and storing, so, how to keep the good person and integrate their knowledge inside the organization, that need ¡¨ human resource management system¡¨ to process. This research chose four multinational corporations which nationality is Taiwan. These four company coming from: the traditional livelihood industry; the traditional infrastructure industry; the high-tech manufacturer and information software research and development industry. This research concludes some propositions through the interview with top managers of these sample corporations. Positions are as follows: Proposition 1: the more explicit that the core knowledge inside organization was, the more complete that the information technology infrastructure done, the more possible that the corporation will take the system knowledge management strategy; the more tacit that the core knowledge inside organization was, the more important the tacit system was, such as, the organization culture, pay attention to the people and so on, to force the knowledge management. Proposition 2: the more that the core competition of the enterprises tends to be the market exploration, the easier they will use the partial step-by-step knowledge management strategy. the more that the core competition of the enterprises tend to be the technology exploration, the easier they will use the integral system knowledge management strategy. Proposition 3: the more complex that the need of global knowledge originality strategy (the localize and the global integrate level increased),the stronger that the effect of human resource management coordinate and control. Proposition 4: the role that the knowledge management organization plays in an enterprise follows the different executive step of the knowledge management in the enterprise has its different position. Proposition 5: the higher that the level of the enterprise knowledge management systematize ,the greater that the role of human resource management plays .besides, the higher that the level of personalizing of the enterprise knowledge management system, the greater that the roll of human resource management in strategetical execution. Proposition 6: the strategy about knowledge management of the enterprise and the human capital of the enterprise are to complement each other. From the six propositions, we can derive the following two important conclusion: 1. By the diversification of the knowledge management, the organization should select that can adopt to its characteristic of knowledge and compare to its competition strategy of knowledge management strategy. So that it can afford positive promotion of organization management achievements. Besides, the organization should transform to organic organization to construct the opening culture makes benefits of the knowledge flow; the organization should make his endeavor to build up the culture of edution to make learning and effective interaction to all action of the member in the organization and the manager should promote his own leadership. 2. The diversified roll of the human resource management, in the recruited policy, we pay more attention on the potential of staff and the corresponding of culture of education to make more benefits to carry out knowledge management. In the training, the develop scheme which is centered by the staff makes each member can be the knowledge contributor to pass the values toward the knowledge of the organization in the courses. Plot and connect the achievement system. The human resource professional should make progress with knowledge management science. Besides, we should progress the step task toward the strategy of knowledge management and realize the situation of the knowledge management proceeded in the organization. Abstract Arthur Anderson Consulting spent thirty millions US dollars on corporate management research and development, which in turn developed ¡§The Best Corporate Workflow Knowledge Management System¡¨ for thousands of clients and consultants. This is the best example for successfully invented knowledge management. Not only foreign corporations are applying this resources management system to improve their competitiveness. Taipei government also applied knowledge management related measures facilitated by Microsoft Corporation in 2001. Taiwan Private Corporation obviously has already followed the trend on knowledge management. ITIS listed resources management system as one of the six significant techniques in 1996. The term ¡§Knowledge Management¡¨, has become a buzz word in corporate culture for a long time. Some observers said this is the trend for knowledge management in the future. Others think this is just an interim. Either one would be true; knowledge management seems to be one necessary means to replace other organizations restructuring direction. Currently, most of academic researchers in resources management primarily focus on application and subjective issues. There is a lack of study to prove whether knowledge management can improve organizational performance. The study brings organization performance and knowledge management into discussion order to figure out the effects from knowledge management and organization performance. With thorough investigation, there are several points that are worthy to note: 1. Different business strategy, industry category and life cycle devote differences in existing knowledge management culture and organization performance. (1) Those corporations which apply innovative strategies like knowledge management culture and organization performance usually have better satisfactory than those which apply other business strategies. 2. Knowledge management culture has tremendous effects on knowledge management performance and organization performance. 3. Knowledge management performance has partial mediatory effects on knowledge management culture and organization performance 4. The research of Taiwan offshore Tuna fishing industry after vessel-reduction by ICCAT

ABSTRACT Our Atlantic Ultra-Low-Temperature Tuna Fishing fleets were under attack from Japan during the 2004 ICCAT (International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas) Annual Meeting. Japan openly called for tough penalty for our fleet such as significantly cutting our fishing quotas in the Atlantic and revoking our national membership in the ICCAT for over-fishing, violating International Conservation Regulations and washing fish right on the ocean. This resulted in catastrophic damage in our Ultra-Low-Temperature fishing operation in the pacific and undue pressure from our international competitors. Under the strict monitoring of international conservation groups, our government was forced reform its regulations of the fishing industry and focus on the long-neglected area of offshore fishing. To express its sincerity in active management of the industry, the government offered a series of matching measures. The first of these measures was the reduction of the number of ships to achieve cutback in fishing capacity. The three-year plan spanning from 2005 to 2007 involved a joint venture by the government and the offshore industry with joint contribution of 12.5 million US dollars to disassemble 183 large Tuna Long line Fishing Vessels in the three oceans. Fishing vessels in the Atlantic were reduced from 100 to 76. The next measures were to improve the monitoring of the fishing industry and to end any and all illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. How will our offshore fishing industry recover after a series of attack? How will our industry thrive in the austere environment of conservatism? Do we still possess any competitive advantage after the vessel-reduction measure? This thesis will cover the analysis of the competitive advantage of the Offshore Ultra-Low-Temperature Fishing Industry after the vessel-reduction, the analysis of the supply-and-demand of the Ultra-Low-Temperature market and SWOT analysis. It will also discuss in depth the post-reform fishing industry management strategy for reference.

Abstract In the past, seats on the management of the research focuses on exploring the best logical way for seats assignment to ensure the revenue maximizing, it¡¦s rarely to consider in the faces of management pressure and services requirement. Hence, this thesis will take a survey through market research studies to identify the reason of the shift of passenger from Non-reserved Seating to Reserved seating or the increase of rider-ship caused by the lower fare of Non-reserved Seating. After fully collection of the requirement of passengers and the consideration of High Speed Rail¡¦s operator, the ¡§Situational Analysis¡¨ mechanism is applied. The different Non-reserved car allotment will be arranged under different circumstance and their revenue will be evaluated as well. Finally, the recommendation of the High Speed Rail¡¦s seat management strategy from the point of view of revenue maximizing, operation consideration and passenger requirement will be provided. Η παρούσα έρευνα εξετάζει τον τρόπο με τον οποίο προσαρμόζεται το μείγμα μάρκετινγκ (Product-Promotion-Place-Price) στην περίπτωση των διαδικτυακών φαρμακείων, ποιο είναι το ανταγωνιστικό τους πλεονέκτημα όπως αυτό εκφράζεται μέσα από τη στρατηγική, ποια θετικά χαρακτηριστικά- «κλειδιά» των ιστοσελίδων εκμεταλλεύονται στην δραστηριοποίησή τους και τέλος τι είδους αξία διατείνονται ότι παρέχουν στον καταναλωτή, μέσα από τη δήλωση οράματος/αποστολής. Η συλλογή των δεδομένων της έρευνας πραγματοποιήθηκε εξετάζοντας συγκεκριμένα χαρακτηριστικά των ιστοσελίδων φαρμακείων που δραστηριοποιούνται στο διαδίκτυο. Systematic Marine Reserve Design

Since the first reserve selection algorithm was developed in the early 1980s, systematic approaches to reserve design have attracted widespread support due to their ability to identify repeatable and efficient solutions to conservation planning problems. Yet there has been limited application of these methods to the problem of designing reserve systems for biodiversity conservation in the marine environment. In my dissertation research, I apply systematic methods to examine four fundamental issues in marine reserve system design. These issues consider how conservation planning outcomes are influenced when design constraints such as spatial compactness, efficiency, economic costs and incremental reserve establishment are formulated as part of the reserve design problem. First, I consider the trade-offs between spatial design and cost efficiency. In particular, I examine how well marine reserve systems can satisfy the design requirement to minimise the degree of fragmentation whilst minimising reserve system cost. In this case cost refers to the number of sites required to achieve biodiversity conservation objectives. The second issue is the inefficiency of ad hoc marine reserve system design. In terrestrial systems, ad hoc reserve design has been shown to produce inefficient reserve systems, limiting opportunities to achieve conservation targets. I examine how efficiently South Australia’s existing marine reserves contribute to quantitative conservation targets and introduce a new measure of irreplaceability. This metric reflects the potential value of a site’s contribution to reservation goals, by assessing whether a site is selected more than could be expected from chance alone. Sites selected as often as would be expected by chance, fail to contribute to the design of efficient marine reserve systems and represent an opportunity cost. The third issue addresses the demands on reserve systems to achieve both conservation and socio-economic objectives. Options for the design of marine reserve systems, which achieve better economic outcomes for commercial users without compromising conservation targets, are examined using a cost function that serves to make trade–offs early in the design process. The fourth issue is one of shifting targets and incremental reserve design. The problem was most recently highlighted with the rezoning of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, where the amount of no-take areas increased from 5% to over 30% but the original zoning arrangements were left in place. The consequence this has on the efficiency of the final marine reserve system is examined when different starting targets are used as the base. Each issue is examined by formulating planning scenarios using data for South Australia’s state waters as a case study. The marine reserve systems are configured using the mathematical optimisation program MARXAN to examine the complex trade-offs of conservation planning problems. The program offers the flexibility to incorporate new approaches and developing theory in marine conservation into the formal statement of the reserve design problem. The results offer some important insights for the future of marine reserve system design. These include 1) efficient representation of biodiversity is only part of the reserve design problem, with small increases in reserve system cost reported as a trade-off for more spatially compact marine reserve systems, 2) despite spanning less than 4% of South Australian state waters, the existing ad hoc marine reserves presented considerable opportunity costs that did not improve even when conservation targets were increased. Hence ad hoc reserve selection is likely to constrain effective conservation of marine biodiversity by compromising the ability to select more suitable sites, 3) integrating conservation and socio-economic objectives presents opportunities to design representative, efficient and practical marine reserve systems that minimise potential loss to commercial users with only small increases to the areal extent of the reserve system and 4) incrementally changing target levels of reservation has a minor affect on the efficiency of the final reserve system, though is likely to influence which planning units are in the final reserve system.

Στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας ήταν η μελέτη και η υλοποίηση στρατηγικής διαχείρισης ενέργειας για τη βελτιωμένη οικονομική λειτουργία υβριδικού οχήματος με χρήση ψηφιακού μικροελεγκτή. Η προτεινόμενη στρατηγική, η οποία βασίζει τη λειτουργία της στην αρχή της ασαφούς λογικής αναπτύχθηκε και αρχικά δοκιμάστηκε, χρησιμοποιώντας το πρόγραμμα Matlab/Simulink. Για την επιβεβαίωση της ορθής λειτουργίας του συνολικού συστήματος αποτελούμενου από το ηλεκτρικό κινητήριο σύστημα, τη μηχανή εσωτερικής καύσης και το σύστημα διαχείρισης της ενέργειας, δημιουργήθηκε ένα μαθηματικό μοντέλο ενός υβριδικού οχήματος παράλληλης διάταξης, επίσης στο περιβάλλον Simulink,στο οποίο η διαχείριση της ενέργειας γίνεται μέσω του ανεπτυχθέντος ασαφούς ελεγκτή. Στόχος ήταν να ελεγχθεί η συμπεριφορά του ελεγκτή αυτού. Τέλος, κατασκευάστηκε το κύκλωμα υλοποίησης του ασαφούς ελεγκτή, χρησιμοποιώντας τον ψηφιακό μικροελεγκτή dsPIC30f4011 της εταιρίας Microchip. Για την υλοποίηση της λειτουργίας του ελεγκτή, αναπτύχθηκε ο αντίστοιχος κώδικας σε γλώσσα C, η λειτουργία του οποίου επιβεβαιώθηκε πειραματικά. / The objective of this master thesis was the study and the implementation of an energy management strategy, aiming for improved economic operation of hybrid vehicle using a digital microcontroller. The proposed strategy, based on the principles of fuzzy logic, was developed and initially tested using the environment Matlab/Simulink. To ascertain the correct operation of the system constituted by the electric motive system, the internal combustion machine and the energy management system, a mathematic model of hybrid vehicle of parallel provision was also created in Simulink. The energy management is implemented by the fuzzy controller. The main objective was to test the behavior of this controller. Finally, the electronic circuit of the fuzzy controller was manufactured. The digital microcontroller dsPIC30f4011 (Microchip company) was used. For the implementation of the operation of the controller, the corresponding code was developed in C language, the operation of which was experimentally confirmed.

Optimal energy management strategy for a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle

The Energy Management Strategy (EMS) has a huge effect on the performance of any hybrid vehicle because it determines the operating point of almost every component associated with the powertrain. This means that its optimisation is an incredibly complex task which must consider a number of objectives including the fuel consumption, drive-ability, component degradation and straight-line performance. The EMS is of particular importance for Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FCHEVs), not only to minimise the fuel consumption, but also to reduce the electrical stress on the fuel cell and maximise its useful lifetime. This is because the durability and cost of the fuel cell stack is one of the major obstacles preventing FCHEVs from being competitive with conventional vehicles. In this work, a novel EMS is developed, specifcally for Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FCHEVs), which considers not only the fuel consumption, but also the degradation of the fuel cell in order to optimise the overall running cost of the vehicle. This work is believed to be the first of its kind to quantify effect of decisions made by the EMS on the fuel cell degradation, inclusive of multiple causes of voltage degradation. The performance of this new strategy is compared in simulation to a recent strategy from the literature designed solely to optimise the fuel consumption. It is found that the inclusion of the degradation metrics results in a 20% increase in fuel cell lifetime for only a 3.7% increase in the fuel consumption, meaning that the overall running cost is reduced by 9%. In addition to direct implementation on board a vehicle, this technique for optimising the degradation alongside the fuel consumption also allows alternative vehicle designs to be compared in an unbiased way. In order to demonstrate this, the novel optimisation technique is subsequently used to compare alternative system designs in order to identify the optimal economic sizing of the fuel cell and battery pack. It is found that the overall running cost can be minimised by using the smallest possible fuel cell stack that will satisfy the average power requirement of the duty cycle, and by using an oversized battery pack to maximise the fuel cell effciency and minimise the transient loading on the stack. This research was undertaken at Loughborough University as part of the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) in Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Their Applications in collaboration with the University of Birmingham and Nottingham University and with sponsorship from HORIBA-MIRA (Nuneaton, UK). A Microcab H4 test vehicle has been made available for use in testing for this research which was previously used for approximately 2 years at the University of Birmingham. The Microcab H4 is a small campus based vehicle designed for passenger transport and mail delivery at low speeds as seen on a university campus. It has a top speed of approximately 30mph, and is fitted with a 1.2kW fuel cell and a 2kWh battery pack.

Power Management Strategy of a Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle with Integrated Ultra-Capacitor with Driving Pattern Recognition

abstract: The greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have reached a highest level due to high number of vehicles. A Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FCHEV) has zero greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional ICE vehicles or Hybrid Electric Vehicles and hence is a better alternative. All Electric Vehicle (AEVs) have longer charging time which is unfavorable. A fully charged battery gives less range compared to a FCHEV with a full hydrogen tank. So FCHEV has an advantage of a quick fuel up and more mileage than AEVs. A Proton Electron Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is the commonly used kind of fuel cell vehicles but it possesses slow current dynamics and hence not suitable to be the sole power source in a vehicle. Therefore, improving the transient power capabilities of fuel cell to satisfy the road load demand is critical. This research studies integration of Ultra-Capacitor (UC) to FCHEV. The objective is to analyze the effect of integrating UCs on the transient response of FCHEV powertrain. UCs has higher power density which can overcome slow dynamics of fuel cell. A power management strategy utilizing peak power shaving strategy is implemented. The goal is to decrease power load on batteries and operate fuel cell stack in it’s most efficient region. Complete model to simulate the physical behavior of UC-Integrated FCHEV (UC-FCHEV) is developed using Matlab/SIMULINK. The fuel cell polarization curve is utilized to devise operating points of the fuel cell to maintain its operation at most efficient region. Results show reduction of hydrogen consumption in aggressive US06 drive cycle from 0.29 kg per drive cycle to 0.12 kg. The maximum charge/discharge battery current was reduced from 286 amperes to 110 amperes in US06 drive cycle. Results for the FUDS drive cycle show a reduction in fuel consumption from 0.18 kg to 0.05 kg in one drive cycle. This reduction in current increases the life of the battery since its protected from overcurrent. The SOC profile of the battery also shows that the battery is not discharged to its minimum threshold which increasing the health of the battery based on number of charge/discharge cycles. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Mechanical Engineering 2017
