AMOS CORNER SHOP : Corner shops social and cultural contributions in the city, as well as their representation of Malmö.

Christell, Julia, Tallmar, Hanna January 2024 (has links)
Corner shops, perhaps you are pondering about your favorite corner shop below the gate of your apartment, maybe you do not know what it is, or perhaps you have never visited one but have been curious about how they manage to endure. If so, this bachelor thesis is tailored just for you. Our focus with this thesis has been to bridge the knowledge gap about Malmö’s corner shops, emphasizing their social and cultural contributions to the city, as well as examining how these local, self-sustaining grocery stores represent Malmö. Through observations at several corner shops, and four interviews with shopkeepers and an author, we have come closer to the people, amo, and the regulars. We have gained knowledge and understanding of a critical gentrification situation and the complexity in claiming authenticity in the city. We have had the opportunity to witness people from different backgrounds come together in a small shop around the corner, a third place. A representation of a majority of minorities in the built environment. Our aim has not been to change, but to highlight the functions and contributions of corner shops to Malmö as a city.

Kirche im Café : eine empirisch-theologische Studie über die Chancen, Grenzen und Perspektiven missionaler Café-Kirchen / Church in a coffee shop : an empirical-theological study of the opportunities and challenges presented by missional café churches and their future outlook

Mutz, Sebastian Johannes 11 1900 (has links)
The subject of this research paper is the empirical-theological exploration of the opportunities, challenges and perspectives of missional café churches from the viewpoint of the leaders of corresponding projects. With that, questions regarding theology, ecclesiology and lived spirituality play just as much of a role as tangible experience. On the basis of a missional perspective (missional church, fresh expressions of church) and a sociological perspective (Sinus-Milieu study, third places), which take the current state of research into account, empirical data will be obtained from twelve qualitative expert interviews; this data will then be analyzed using the Grounded Theory from Strauss & Corbin. Subsequently, the empirical results will be related to the theoretical reflections and deliberated from a missional perspective. The research lead to the conclusion that missional café churches have a great deal of potential to live out the Gospel in a relevant manner and to be defined theologically as a church in its full sense. On the other hand however, there are limits and challenges that ought to be considered, if these café churches are to maintain their missional relevance in the future. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. The library as place : a study of the experiences and perceptions of community libraries users in the Moretele Local Municipality

Sepeng, Itumeleng 02 1900 (has links)
Bibliography: leaves 97-104 / In this dissertation I examine the public's use of two community libraries in the Moretele local municipality. My research focused on who uses the libraries, for what purpose the libraries are being used, and patrons’ perceptions of the libraries. Data was collected using three methods namely interviews, observations in the form of seating sweeps and written patron surveys. The data collected show that the libraries play an important role in the information and social needs of the communities. They are highly valued for the resources they provide such as study space, books and photocopiers. The libraries are also greatly utilised by local communities, especially UNISA students, and function as public and third places. As public spaces they offer the community a space to meet, work together and discuss issues that are of importance to the community. As third places, the libraries offer ideal places for people, especially the youth, to play and socialise. I conclude that the libraries are irreplaceable spaces for the community and, therefore, not easily replicated elsewhere. / Kule-dissertation, ngihlola ukusetshenziswa ngumphakathi kwamalayibrari amabili omphakathi kuMasipala wendawo yaseMoretele. Ucwaningo lwami lugxila ekuthengi ngobani abasebenzisa amalayibrari, nokuthi bawasebenzisela ziphi izinhloso lamalayibrari, kanye nemibono yabantu abasebenzisa lamalayibrari. Ulwazi luqokelelwe ngezindlela ezintathu, okuyilezi, ama-interview, ukuqapha okwenzekayo ngendlela yokubheka ukuthi abantu bayisebenzisa kanjani indawo kanye nokwenza ama-survey abhaliwe kubasebenzisi belayibrari. Ulwazi oluqokelelwe lukhombise ukuthi amalayibrari adlala indima ebalulekile ngolwazi, kanye nezidingo zabantu emphakathini. Athathwa njengomthombo obaluleke kakhulu ngoba asiza ngendawo yokutadisha, izincwadi kanye nokwenza ama-photocopy.
