Xu, Jiahong, Wang, Shiyang, He, Beibei January 2013 (has links)
Abstract: Background: Sweden is one of the biggest coffee consuming countries in Europe with the average annual coffee consumption per capita as high as 8.2kg. This mass consumption of coffee therefore creates high level of competition amongst coffee providers in the Swedish coffee market. There are numerous coffee shops and even some food chains and retail stores selling their own brand of coffee. This study will focus on Generation Y, as they will soon be the majority of consumers. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and analyze what factors affect Generation Y’s loyalty to coffee shops and examine what forms the basis of Generation Y’s loyalty for coffee shops. Methodology: In this thesis, the research method is based on a quantitative approach using a questionnaire to collect data. The findings are established by using both existing literature and primary data. The questionnaire consists of 432 respondents and 400 respondents’ data was used to answer the research question. The respondents consist only of Generation Y who has lived in Sweden for longer than six months. Conclusion: This study has shown that the most important factor that affects people of Swedish Generation Y to become loyal customers to coffee shops is being provided a comfortable and suitable environment. The second important factor is product quality. The third factor is service. However, for those who are students and unemployed Swedish Generation Y, price is also a factor that could influence their loyalty. Moreover, Coffee shops can use loyalty programs to get their customers’ higher customer loyalty. Key words: Coffee shops, Generation Y, Customer loyalty, Customer satisfaction

Marketing Strategies of Successful Coffee Shop Owners

Adeleke, Abi 01 January 2019 (has links)
Failure is an issue with small businesses globally; some owners of small businesses lack the knowledge of business administration and marketing strategies necessary to help ensure success. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore what marketing strategies some coffee shop owners use to sustain business operations during the first 5 years of operation. The targeted population consisted of 5 coffee shop owners in Arkansas who successfully implemented marketing strategies to sustain business operations during the first 5 years of operation. Goldsmith's 8Ps of marketing mix was the conceptual framework used in the study. Data were collected from semistructured interviews and a review of publicly available data and company websites. Data were analyzed using the principles of the content analysis method, which included identifying codes and themes. Findings indicated owners of successful coffee shops were actively engaged in the day-to-day business operations and in the community; provided premium products; used social media for marketing, promotion, and branding; used competitive pricing; were precise about the location; provided exceptional customer service and personalization, and had points of marketing differentiation to promote their brand. The implications of this study for positive social change include the potential to support the welfare of the citizens of Arkansas, and owners of coffee shops across the United States that could provide independent coffee shop owners with marketing strategies necessary to sustain business operations, contribute to new job creation and regional economic sustainability.

The effect of multi-sensory branding on purchase intention at coffee shops in South Africa

Anvar, Muntaha January 2016 (has links)
A DISSERTATION Submitted in full fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTERS OF COMMERCE (Marketing) at the UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND 2016 / In the retail sphere of coffee shops, the increase in competition has led retailers to revert to alternative methods of capturing the attention of customers. By means of multi-sensory branding, retailers aim to stimulate consumers‟ emotions towards a brand, which ultimately influences buying behaviour. Although the success of multi-sensory branding is still relatively low, there seems to be an increased awareness of involving the five senses into the retail sphere. Its successful implementation can help marketers benefit financially through increased sales, profits and market share. The purpose of the present study is therefore to fill this void by exploring the effect of multi-sensory branding on purchase intention at coffee shops in Johannesburg. For the purpose of this study, the five senses (sight, touch, taste, smell and sound) are the predictor variables, with customer satisfaction as the mediating variable, and purchase intention as the outcome variable. Despite a number of studies that have been conducted in this field, little research has focused on the South African coffee shop industry, which is gaining increased attraction from global investors. This study follows a quantitative approach in which 400 surveys were distributed among male and female students at University of the Witwatersrand to explore the influence of multi-sensory branding on purchase intention at coffee shops. Although the findings indicate that all six proposed hypotheses are supported, the strongest relationships were found to be between customer satisfaction and sound, taste, and smell respectively. Thus indicating that sound, taste and smell have the most significant influence on customer satisfaction. Likewise, customer satisfaction has a significant influence on purchase intention. The contribution of this paper is firstly, to expand the contextual knowledge multi-sensory branding and its factors that are used to influence consumer purchase intentions. Secondly, it will add to existing literature on multi-sensory branding. Theoretically, it also contributes to the consumer behaviour literature in marketing and retail branding. Lastly, the investigation completed on the influences of purchase intentions, provides marketing practitioners with a proper understanding of techniques and strategies that can be employed to influence buying behaviour through manipulation of multiple sensory cues. / MT2017

Proyecto Cheap App

Alarcón Díaz, Stephanie Jordana, Chavez Flores, Mirella Alexandra, Polo Riega, Claudia Alexandra, Porles Rivera, Joshep Andre, Vilca Ramos, Sebastian Rodrigo 28 November 2019 (has links)
This project is a mobile application aimed at addressing the problem of organic waste by coffee shops and patisseries. Based on the research carried out in North Lima to the NSE “C”, it was detected that these businesses discarded surpluses of unsold production and that there were customers eager to acquire these dishes or desserts at a reduced price. Likewise, it was identified that users have less and less time to physically go to the business since they prefer to prioritize their daily activities. Therefore, they decide to place their orders online or through applications on their cell phones. Finally, under this worldwide trend of online application downloading and the increasing use of smartphones by the socioeconomic level "C" it was decided to develop Cheap App which will show the products of all the coffee shops and patisseries affiliated in a radius close to the User location with offers and discounts minimum of 30% of the original price. To launch this project an analysis of the industry was made: consumer, competitors and other external factors. In addition, the following plans were developed: Strategic Plan, Operations Plan, Marketing Plan, Human Resources Plan and Corporate Social Responsibility and the Financial Plan. Which contain the necessary actions for the viability of this project. As a result, after an initial investment of S /. 69,382 in 2019 there will be a net profit of S / .50,231 for 2022, S / .90,728 for 2023 and S / .148,540 for 2024.

The study on socio-spatial formation of São Paulo allows us to identify that coffee has a close relationship with the city. Since the end of the 19th century to the present day, coffee has become an effective instrument of globalization in conjunction with geographical objects linked to the process of urbanization. Between the end of the 19th century and 1930 the relation between the coffee and the city of São Paulo was the implantation of infrastructure and urbanism. The coffee consumption was growing rapidly, considering it was a luxury product, consumed mainly by the elite of São Paulo. From 1930 to 1970 the relation between coffee and the city of São Paulo was that of industrialization, which strengthened the urbanization/metropolization of the city. The coffee consumption space expanded and consolidated among other factors as a result of roasting and milling companies and also by incentives and state regulations. Coffee is no longer a luxury product, it is now consumed by a large part of the population. In the current period of socio-spatial formation in São Paulo, the relation between coffee and the city is the contribution to the dynamic of the informational Metropolis' consumption in coffee shops. From the ambience and design, over service and speciality in diverse coffee to different locations; the coffee shops act in the system of objects and govern the dynamics of every day life in São Paulo.
