Alatalo, Marcus January 2014 (has links)
I undersökningen intervjuades tio sjökaptensstudenter. / The purpose of this research is to find out how students, graduating from the Master Mariners programme, look at their own leadership style from their experiences from their cadet training period, their earlier work experience and from their acquired knowledge from the course in leadership which is included in the programme. The method used for this research is qualitative, with semi-structured interviews and literature studies. Ten Master Mariner students were interviewed for this research. An interview guide was used, as support to the interviewer, during the interviews. The answers from the interviews were analyzed theoretically on three classical leadership styles; authoritarian, democratic and passive. As regards to the cadet training period and earlier work experience, the result shows that the Master Mariner students regard their own leadership style as to be one that corresponds mostly with a democratic and partly with an authoritarian leadership style. The students think, from their acquired knowledge from the course in leadership, that it is important to be able to adjust one’s leadership according to the situation and to be flexible in one’s leadership style. The result seems to indicate that the flexibility in one’s leadership style lies between a democratic and an authoritarian leadership style.

Změny motorické výkonnosti adolescentních a dospělých fotbalistů výkonností úrovně v průběhu zimního přípravného období. / Changes in motor performance of competition level adolescent and adult football players during winter training period.

Frčka, Michal January 2018 (has links)
Title: Changes in motor performance of competition level adolescent and adult football players during winter training period. Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to confirm the efficacy of winter training on changes of motor performance by measuring and comparing topical condition of the players with the help of initial and final somatic and fitness parameters diagnostics of two football teams (adult men and adolescents) that compete in football competitions at similar amateur level and by comparing the achieved results. Methods: The methods used were measuring, comparison and data analysis. The assessment of motor performance of individual players was based on the series of tests UNIFITTEST 6-60 that was complemented with tests of specific football skills: long distance kick and heavy ball throw. Results: The conclusion is that during the winter training period that took 8 weeks included 16 training sessions and several training matches, the proposed training plan affected positively the motor performance of the tested players. The most substantial advance was recorded in 2 km run and long distance kick tests in which 96% of players significantly improved. The Bílé Podolí players improved their run time by 27 seconds on average and the Vrdy players improved by 21 seconds on average. In the...

Studies in Multiple-Antenna Wireless Communications

Peel, Christian Bruce 27 January 2004 (has links) (PDF)
Wireless communications systems are used today in a variety of milieux, with a recurring theme: users and applications regularly require higher throughput. Multiple antennas enable higher throughput and/or more robust performance than single-antenna communications, with no increase in power or frequency bandwidth. Systems are required which achieve the full potential of this "space-time" communication channel under the significant challenges of time-varying fading, multiple users, and the choice of appropriate coding schemes. This dissertation is focused on solutions to these problems. For the single-user case, there are many well-known coding techniques available; in the first part of this dissertation, the performance of two of these methods are analyzed. Trained and differential modulation are simple coding techniques for single-user time-varying channels. The performance of these coding methods is characterized for a channel having a constant specular component plus a time-varying diffuse component. A first- order auto-regressive model is used to characterize diffuse channel coefficients that vary from symbol to symbol, and is shown to lead to an effective SNR that decreases with time. A lower bound on the capacity of trained modulation is found for the specular/diffuse channel. This bound is maximized over the training length, training frequency, training signal, and training power. Trained modulation is shown to have higher capacity than differential coding, despite the effective SNR penalty of trained modulation versus differential methods. The second part of the dissertation considers the multi-user, multi-antenna channel, for which capacity-approaching codes were previously unavailable. Precoding with the channel inverse is shown to provide capacity that approaches a constant as the number of users and antennas simultaneously increase. To overcome this limitation, a simple encoding algorithm is introduced that operates close to capacity at sum-rates of tens of bits/channel-use. The algorithm is a variation on channel inversion that regularizes the inverse and uses a "sphere encoder" to perturb the data to reduce the energy of the transmitted signal. Simulation results are presented which support our analysis and algorithm development.

Campus Crato, from the perspective of the students. As we know, the mandatory training period is a complementary stage of the learning process and involves a pedagogical structure, from a suitable curriculum to small actions in the school environment, so that we can turn this activity into a reflexive action to develop a coherent relation between practice and theory. We chose the qualitative approach aiming to achieve a better comprehension and to give meanings to the analyzed phenomena. The instruments used to collect the data were questionnaires with open questions. The target of this research was the former students of the Integrated Technician Course who finished in 2010. These instruments enabled us to identify some discrepancies related to the articulation between school, training, and the job market, which have been compromising the role of the farming technician in his/her area of insertion. It's important to highlight that, in addition to these aspects, we aimed to gather specific laws and decrees which influenced the development of this work in Brazil. We endeavored, also, to approach the training practice in a perspective of approximation between propaedeutic and technical teaching, taken as able to provide the student with education to face the challenges of the world of work.

This study analyses the beliefs that training students have about teaching and learning English language when they start the period of curricular practices, as well as the changes that may occur in this process. The subject has been studied and discussed by many researchers concerned with the concepts that are transferred from one person to another in the process of teaching and learning a foreign language, since we create our ideas in interaction with others. So belief is the whole idea that a person takes to be true, influencing his actions. And based on interactionist principles guided by the propositions of Vygotsky (1998), Lantolf (2000) and Mitchell and Myles (2004), and considerations regarding the beliefs of Barcelos (2004 and 2007) and other results of research in this area (Alvarez, 2007, Coelho, 2006 and Silva 2006), the theoretical framework that guided this work was built. The data were collected through a qualitative study involving questionnaire, observation and recording classes from four students, and also the lesson plans and reports are analyzed. Finally, through triangulation of information were identified concepts that remain the same during this process and those who suffered some type of change. The results indicate that even if students understand or recognize the theoretical considerations learned along the way, their actions do not always follow them.
