Begriplighetsökning i statens regi : Om makt, kunskap och statlig reglering i SOU 2017:92 Transpersoner i Sverige

Odland, Tove January 2018 (has links)
This master’s thesis considers the Official Report of the Swedish Government Transpersoner i Sverige (SOU 2017:92), and its ambitions to increase intelligibility for trans people. Using a discourse-theoretical framework, I study the report’s production of meaning regarding power, norms and knowledge. In my analysis, the constitution of meaning leads to the establishment, in the report, of a specific understanding of intelligibility and of how intelligibility for trans people can and should be increased. Further, I note that ‘knowledge’, in the report, is positioned as beyond power and mobilized to counter the defined problems of unintelligibility. In particular, the report promotes measurable knowledge as the means by which to amend problems concerning lacking descriptions of trans people’s situation. Using Spade (2015) and Butler (1997), I elaborate on the positioning of the state with respect to the report’s project of increasing intelligibility, and show that state power is naturalized. The main conclusion of the thesis is that several of the report’s suggestions serve to legitimize state regulation of gendered subjectivity, specifically with respect to legal genders and their utilization in measurement and surveillance.

Construction and validation of a Negative Attitudes toward Trans People Scale / Construcción y validación de una escala de actitudes negativas hacia personas trans

Páez, José, Hevia, Guillermo, Pesci, Florencia, Rabbia, Hugo H. 25 September 2017 (has links)
The study goal was to construct and psychometrically validate a negative’s attitudes towards trans people scale (EANT) as an expression of prejudice against trans. Two interdepen- dent sequential studies through questionnaires are reported, both rely on non-probabilistic samples: Study 1, involves 203 participants, mainly college students, addresses the construction and exploratory analysis of the EANT. Study 2, involving 408 participants assigned according to s ociodemographic quotes established by the national census in the general population, shows confirmatory factor analysis and external validation of the scale. A sole factor 9-item instrument, with acceptable internal consistency (α = .886) was obtained. The results suggest good applicability in general population studies. Expected relations with typical variables (ATLG, RWA, SDO and religiosity) were procured.

[pt] PESSOAS TRANS NO SUS: NARRATIVAS DAS PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE SOBRE SUAS PERCEPÇÕES, LIMITES E DESAFIOS / [en] TRANS PEOPLE IN SUS: NARRATIVES OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS ABOUT THEIR PERCEPTIONS, LIMITS AND CHALLENGES

ANA CAROLINA LIMA DOS SANTOS 16 September 2020 (has links)
[en] This study aims to evaluate healthcare professionals (HCP) during their multiprofessional postgraduate training - residency - and their perceptions of the care dispensed to transgender people in a university hospital in Rio de Janeiro city. It is highly important to value the transexuality subject from the HCP perspective in order to build proper professional education and permanent health education that allows experience exchange spaces between those professionals and the population. This work has as specific goals: 1) To identify the in-training HCP perception about the demands of transgender people who attend to the health facility, 2) To evaluate the intercommunication between HCPs and trans people regarding the resolution of their needs and 3) To evaluate the internalization and reification of gender dimension in the public health education during residency from the professionals perception. Gender discrimination episodes against people whose sexuality is considered deviating is recurrent in health care institutions.. For this work, we conducted 8 interviews with 2nd-year health care students during their multiprofessional residency. To perform data analysis the content analysis method was used to evaluate the narratives of the interviewees, using three categories: basic knowledge on transexuality and health needs, health care to trans people and interactions with HCP and gender and professional training. We observed that the difficulties in dealing with gender and sexuality topics, specially those regarding female sexuality, reduce the impact of the action of those health professionals. Our results evidentiate that the manner the HCPs deal with gender and sexuality and how they understand those subjects are barriers to transgender people on their access to health care services.
