Táto práca skúma vplyv globálnych masmédií na tvorbu medzinárodnej politiky počas vybraných konfliktov na Blízkom východe. Zameriava sa konkrétne na vojnu v Perzskom zálive a vojnu v Iraku. Jej hlavným cieľom je analýza, do akej miery môžu masmédiá ovplyvňovať proces tvorby medzinárodnej politiky resp. byť v nej využívané ako nástroj jej hlavných aktérov. Zhodnocuje, že masmédiá hrajú v medzinárodnej politike významnú úlohu ako nástroj propagandy. V budúcnosti sa stanú masmédiá kľúčovým faktorom pri zaisťovaní informačnej dominancie v nových konfliktoch. Masmédiá na Blízkom východe majú, ale zároveň potenciál stať sa nástrojom budovania demokracie.

At present time, actual role and political activity of Arab countries have a more significant impact on the political development and strategic plans of global politics that the political, geographic and demographic ambitions of Arabs themselves are. The main goal of this study is to describe current development in the region related to global interests and regional influences, especially focused on Syria and Lebanon.

This diploma thesis works with the hypothesis that the existence of oil, which is a non-renewable resource of energy with limited availability (geographically as well as in terms of the available amount)influenced internal formation and international relations of the Middle Eastern states, which are the primary world oil exporters. The main goal of this thesis is to analyse this assumption based on the history of oil industry and determine to what extent has the oil contributed to the current position of the Middle East in the international relations.

Práce se zabývá vývojem palestinsko-izraelského konfliktu a především mírovým procesem od počátku 90. let. Na znalosti historických souvislostí staví rozbor struktury izraelské společnosti, především zdůrazňuje její výraznou etnickou a náboženskou diverzitu. Ve své stěžějní části je práce zaměřena na hlavní náboženské politické strany. Rozebírá jejich postoje k dlouhodobému konfliktu mezi Palestinci a Izraelci a jejich postoje a vliv na mírový proces směřující k vyrovnání mezi oběma národy.

This diploma thesis deals with refugee situation in the Middle East countries. More attention is given to Jordan and Syria. Diploma thesis is divided into three parts. It is a theoretical, analytical and final part. The theoretical part deals with the introduction to the researched issue and the explanation of the basic terms that are associated with migration. It includes contemporary theories of migration, push and pull factors, return policy, the theory of geographical indicators, and the theory of quality of life. The analytical part analyzes the situation of the Middle East countries, then analyzes selected indicators of Jordan, Syria, Zaatari refugee camp and Rukban camp and then compares these indicators. Based on the previous analyzes, the final part includes suggestions of solutions that could lead to improvement in Jordan and Syria and in selected camps.

The thesis deals with the change from the circular to a rectangular building during the Pre- Pottery Neolithic B period (PPNB) in the Levant and researches the possible influence of environmental conditions on this transition. The observed area comprises variable regions from northern Syria to central Jordan. Sites for the analysis were selected according to architectural and chronological criteria. The chosen chronological scope is delimited by final phases of late Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (10 000-9500 BP) and by middle PPNB (9200-8500 BP) periods, with the early PPNB period as a key one, considered as a period of the commencement of rectangular buildings. Because of the high architectural variability across the northern and the southern Levant, besides the chronological scope also the architectural criteria must be extended. Therefore, circular, and rectangular building shapes were classified too. A database of Levantine sites was compiled, which enabled to compare distinct development of the ground plan within a diverse environment of the arid, steppe, and Mediterranean territories and revealed a relatively broad time scope of the change. The master thesis named The Transformation of Presentation of the Middle East Population in Post-9/11 American Films aims to closely analyze eight chosen mainstream American films with the help of the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The plot of the observed films has to be placed in the Middle East, picture terrorism or contain the Arabs or Muslims as characters. On the basis of a wide range of criteria and the final comparison, the thesis focuses on the comparison of the Hollywood movies which were created before and after the terrorist attacks in New York in 2001. The theoretical chapters are dedicated to the introduction of the social construction of reality, stereotyping and one-dimensional description of the Arabs in Hollywood films and mainly to the deep introduction of West and Islamic culture, not only from the historic but also cultural and valuable point of view. The applied methodology follows after. The detailed analysis of the chosen films is accompanied by photographs and excerpts directly from the films to help readers to understand the differences as much as possible. Abstract The thesis deals with the investigation of the terrorist activities run by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an entity in the Middle East which is commonly referred to as a terrorist organization. By evaluating the activities run by ISIS in the seized territories, the organization of civil governance and public administration in them, the investigation of the propaganda model applied by ISIS for attracting new members from around the globe, and the analysis of the main sources of funding used by the Islamic State, the author proves that ISIS significantly differs from classical terrorist organizations, and therefore might be assigned the status of a terrorist state. This Final Thesis is concerning the question of Kurdish minority which is currently dwelling in the Turkish state. I tried to make a clear picture about historical development of both nations, Turkish and Kurdish. The main hypothesis should reveal whether prevail the effort of Kurdish people to reconstruct own state -- new Kurdistan or whether are they attempting to obtain autonomy of Turkish government on the present.
