Reakce Federálního rezervního systému na současnou finanční krizi / Response of the Federal Reserve System to the current financial crisis

Objective of this paper is to assess efficacy and feasibility of measures undertaken by the Federal Reserve system during the financial crisis that erupted in the year 2007. Firstly, origin of central banking in USA is described, then structure and mandate of Fed. Discussion of causes of the financial crisis follows. This work sheds light on policies of Fed after the beginning of the crisis and analyzes their efficiency and suitability. The biggest focus is on quantitative easing and on its effects on long-term interest rates.

Analýza výkonnosti a kredibility tuzemských penzijních fondů / Evaluating the Performance and Kredibility of Czech Pension Funds

This dissertation work focuses on evaluation of the performance and credibility of domestic pension funds. It includes information about pension systems in six selected countries in the world, specifically Chile, Hungary, Switzerland, Poland, Sweden and Slovakia, and culminates with a proposal for pension reform in the Czech Republic. The evaluation of the performance of pension funds is based on experience with measuring performance in twenty-three countries of the world processed for the OECD and cites original basis materials for proposals for the regulation of pension funds in the Czech Republic. Setting of indicators is preceded by an analysis of measurements of performance by the Association of Pension Funds in the Czech Republic and the Research Institute of Labour and Social Affairs. The most important proposed indicators include the actual result in relation to the participants' funds, which captures the influence of changes in the market values of financial assets, and the indicator of competence covers obligations, reflecting the influence of changes in costs during subsequent periods, which include yet undistributed commission for mediators of pension insurance. For a comparison of benefits and risks, mutual funds denominated in CZK were selected, which were verified as a suitable alternative to long-term saving. The method of evaluation of pension funds itself is based on explanation, evaluation and selection of favourable indicators for determining the rating of domestic pension funds, which clients of pension funds could use as a method for evaluating the credibility and benefits of a specific domestic pension fund for the purpose of securing it in retirement age.

In this thesis we compared a profitability of several investment strategies that could be used at the stock markets and we adjusted them for the need of Prague Stock Exchange. The strategies that we used are based on some different principles and they provide different results. We found that the strategies based on the technical approach gave us better results than the strategies based on the fundamental approach. The next finding is that those strategies for which the investors would go also into the short sell perform better than the strategies for which the investors would take just the long positions. The best results we got for the momentum strategy, which is based on the autocorrelation of returns.

This master’s thesis deals with influence of heat source on the value of the apartment building. The introduction describes the calculation of heat losses, types of heating systems, heating elements, heat sources for heating and hot water, methods of market valuation. Further are chosen two variants of heat sources for heating and domestic hot water for the Domino apartment building. Both heating elements are designed to cover the heat losses of the house. At the end of the thesis is an evaluation of the return of a more expensive variant, but cheaper to operate, profit from sale and profibility on rent of the apartment building.

The theoretical part deals with the findings about the company issues, brand and its value. The thesis subsequently presents a list of elements that relate to increasing of the brand value. The final topic of the theoretical part aims at methods of evaluation of brand value and interviewing methodology. In the practical part, the thesis deals with the analysis of the selected construction company, evaluation of its brand in comparison with another company of similar character and hypothesis testing. Finally, on the basis of the findings, marketing tools are proposed to effectively increase brand value of the company.

The final part of the thesis belongs to appreciation of assembled portfolio.
