K problematice času / To the problem of time

Zlatoš, Michal January 2016 (has links)
The thesis "To the problem of time" considers concepts of understanding of the problem of time and temporality on selected authors throughout history. It was revealed in the work that even Aristotle had some notion of temporality, and not only his time counted within movement. However this notion is fragmental thus it required a more complex explanation of his viewpoints. Augustine's switch of perspective brought deeper understanding of human temporality within the connection of the soul to the transcendental God. Further development of this idea made Husserl's analysis of time-consciousness and after him Heidegger, who developed Husserl's concept and founded his own concept on the authenticity based on the consciousness of individual being's irreversible finiteness. Similarly, the concepts of Bergson and Sartre developed the idea of time consciousness, though they differed on some stresses, e.g. the importance of the future. Peirce's position, brought into discussion, showed some similar features despite the different origins to the concept of Husserl's. The cross-section of science and philosophy exposed in Whitehead's concept pointed out the introduction of an observer into the scientific understanding of time and thus denial of the "absolute time" on behalf of dynamicity of the continual...

Vliv médií na formování kolektivní paměti / The Media Impact on the Collective Memory

Liberská, Hana January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation addresses the issues of collective memory in relationship with mass media. The key concepts from both fields are included. The emphasis is put on distinction between collective memory concept and other key concepts like history or historical consciousness. Subsequently the theories presenting correlation between the media and the collective memory are introduced; a lesser empirical part is also included. The main goal of this dissertation is to connect two seemingly separated issues into one compact concept, to demonstrate possible way how media forms collective memory and to support these conclusions by results from the empirical research. Keywords Collective memory, historical consciousness, media impact

Igboské národní vědomí / Igbo national consciousnes

Štěpánková, Hana January 2012 (has links)
Before the direct contact with Europe, the area of present-day south-eastern Nigeria was inhabited by a dispersed population limited to only village or local consciousness but in 1967 representatives of this region declared the independent state of Biafra with the intention to separate from Nigeria which indicates strong collective consciousness. The bearers of this consciousness consider themselves to be Igbo and the collectivity has features of a nation. Therefore it is the Igbo national consciousness I deal with in this thesis. In the theoretical introduction I situate a nation within the sphere of ideas. The historiographic part of the thesis examines how the Igbo nation came into existence. It deals with traditional culture, trade, missionary activity, education, colonial administration, migration, decolonization and politics in independent Nigeria. The second, semiologic part is based on my research among the Igbos in Prague and focuses on the contemporary means for the inter-subjective maintenance of their national consciousness. I try to explain it using a concept of national symbols which can be understood as narratives supporting the idea of continuity, strengthening of borders and assuring the internal homogeneity as distinguished from the external differences.

Jaké je to být vědomý? Možnosti poznání subjektivního charakteru zkušenosti / Subjective character of experience: What is it like to be a conscious agent?

Kožíšek, Jakub January 2019 (has links)
In his article What is it like to be a bat? Thomas Nagel defines consciousness by subjective character of experience. An organism is conscious if there is something that it is like to be that organism. Science describes the world objectively, from the third person perspective. That is the reason why it fails to cope with consciousness - it misses the subjective character of experience. In spite of that, Nagel proposes a new method for studying subjectivity of consciousness, which he calls "objective phenomenology". In my thesis, I want to find out if Daniel Dennett's heterophenomenology is or could be that method. Key words: Nagel, Dennett, consciousness, subjective character of experience, heterophenomenology.

Efektivní strategie formování právního vědomí u studentů středních škol / Effective Strategies of Forming Legal Consciousness of Upper-Secondary School Students

Urban, Michal January 2012 (has links)
The presented PhD. thesis deals with effective strategies of forming legal consciousness of upper-secondary school students, and with methods that can be used for developing it. So far, legal scholars have paid only insufficient attention to this topic, even though many law experts have repeatedly pointed out its importance. Moreover, they stress the fact that a more detailed understanding of legal consciousness of citizens and of ways of influencing it can help us better understand how law works within the society. The thesis opens with the theoretical part, which defines the concept of legal consciousness, describes its level captured by the available empirical research and identifies effective strategies, which possess the potential to cultivate legal consciousness of the youth. In the following practical part, the author seeks to verify effectiveness of these strategies by means of student questionnaires, interviews with teachers and observations of their lessons. The theoretical part firstly introduces legal consciousness as the basic concept of the whole thesis. The first chapter presents the understanding of legal consciousness as one of the key terms of every law because it connects the world of law in books with the world of law actually experienced by people on day to day basis. Legal...

Ošetřovatelská péče o pacienty s kraniocerebrálním poraněním / Nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma

PILNÁČKOVÁ, Jitka January 2011 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is ?Nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma?. Three goals were set. We tried to find what the specifics of nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma are. We also examined whether nurses were aware of the specifics of nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma. The last goal was to find out whether nurses used basal stimulation in these patients. The research was based on a non-standardized interview. The interviews were performed with twelve nurses caring about these patients in the České Budějovice Hospital and the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady. Three research questions were set. 1: What are the specifics of nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma? The research has shown that elevated head position, monitoring of GCS, pupil state and response, administering of bolus analgosedation doses in some nursing activities, ensuring detention administration and list of valuables are the specifics. We have also included CT examination, pre-operation preparation, care of invasive inputs, drains, operation wounds, careful handling with patients, constipation problems, care of a disturbed or aggressive patient and special approach to communication with these patients. 2: Are nurses aware of the specifics of nursing care for patients with craniocerebral trauma? We found that respondents knew the above mentioned specifics. However we found two drawbacks. The first one was in the unawareness of the possibility to increase ICP during defecation among the respondents, the other one was in communication with disturbed or aggressive patients. 3: Do nurses use basal stimulation in patients with craniocerebral trauma? The research has shown that the respondents do apply the concept of basal stimulation, but they only use some of the stimulation elements. This thesis may serve as study material for new nurses starting at the department, where they will care about these patients. The research results and the Standard nursing procedure of Basal stimulation elaborated by us will be offered to managers of both the hospitals where the interviews with nurses were performed.

Svoboda vůle a přístup k informacím o vlastních intencích / Freedom of will and access to informations about one's own intentions

Havlíček, Ondřej January 2011 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the problem of free will and the reliability of an introspective access to action intentions. The traditional questions of free will, responsibility and determinism are currently receiving a lot of attention due to the advances in cognitive sciences. Because of various scientific findings, many authors claim that free will is just an illusion. The purpose of this study is to discuss traditional conceptualization of this topic and point out its problems. As an alternative, I am trying to suggest a compatibilistic theory of freedom and responsibility, which is internally coherent and compatible with scientific evidence. The core of my thesis is a replication and modification of a recent experimental study, investigating voluntary decision-making and an introspective access to one's own intentions. The participants of the experiment performed reflexive actions which they misjudged as intentional. The goal of the theoretical part of my thesis has been accomplished on the basis of examining a voluminous foreign literature. The method involves a philosophical analysis of concepts with an emphasis on contemporary scientific findings. In the empirical part of my work, results were obtained in a cognitive-psychological experiment involving reaction time and evoked potential data acquisition and their analysis. First, a discussion of concepts relevant to the problem of free will is undertaken. An explication of the most significant experiments that question traditional intuitions about the human mind and free will is then given. A detailed description of my experiment follows, including its results and implications. Finally, conclusions about the nature of free will and responsibility are made together with certain suggestions for both the criminal justice system and everyday situations. Although I base the theoretical part of my thesis on the results of many authors, I contribute to it to a substantial degree with my own opinions and arguments. The empirical study is the most significant contribution of mine as its realization demanded i.a. a development of a stimulus presentation software, execution of the experimental tasks with a relatively large number of subjects and a mathematical and statistical evaluation of the acquired data.

Fenomén chůze / Phenomenon of walking

Hlaváčková, Jitka January 2017 (has links)
The thesis is focused on the phenomenon of walking and it's influence on the human perception of the environment. Walking is conceived here as a sustainable way of life and is discussed in three different dimensions: social, environmental and spiritual. It therefore maps the meaning of walking in the human life and it's impact on the environmental concern. The social, environmental and spiritual dimension of walking is presented in the theoretical part of the thesis. There is an analysis of the influence of walking on human health, formation and evolution of hiking trails and ways of the human life within them. In addition, it also deals with the concept of the perception of the nature and the human relation to it. The empirical part of the thesis introduces quantitative research of the pedestrians environmental concern which was carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey. The data from this research is then compared with the data from a representative sample of the population of the Czech Republic obtained in the framework of ISSP Environment III research. Key words: walking, sustainable way of life, perception of nature, environmental concern
