A conceptual training and development framework for public educators in the Limpopo Department of Education

Netshikhophani, Azwindini Frederick 29 April 2013 (has links)
The educational changes that have been taking place in South Africa have seen the emergence of the new curriculum, the NCS, 2002 Policy. The process of implementing the new curriculum has created several challenges that ultimately had an impact on the performance of the public schools learners in the Limpopo Department of Education, particularly in Vhembe District. The new curriculum with its new pedagogical approach, a particular way of teaching methodology, the OBE focuses on the achievement of the outcomes. That on its own suggested the need for drastic changes in the teaching approach that educators have to apply. <p0> It is through this need for change that the Department of Basic Education suggested the training and development framework that provide capacity building of educators. The curriculum advisors were identified as trainers of the educators towards the effective implementation of the new curriculum. This move was needed to build a workforce that is capable, skilled, productive and committed to provide quality education to the South African public. However, the training and development that was provided did not take place without some challenges. The challenges identified were from both the perspectives of educators and the department. The analysis of all the problems that the study has identified and critically evaluated is a testimony that training and development alone cannot be the only solution to the challenges identified in measuring educator performance on curriculum delivery. As a result, overemphasis of training and development may overshadow other responsibilities that the Limpopo Department of education should take, such as the effective provision of resources. It is against this background that the study proposed an inclusive and balanced training and development framework. This is a conceptualised training and development framework that takes note of all the inputs that both the educators and the department make towards the effective achievement of the desired outputs after these inputs shall have been processed. For good management and administration to be achieved by the Limpopo Department of Education, it depends on a well-structured strategic plan that has been informed by the vision and mission of the department which in this study is the achievement of quality education. This approach will then mean the effective application of the basic values and principles that govern public administration in order to achieve good governance. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) / unrestricted

Vers une culture d'affaires coopérative : la transformation de la culture organisationnelle de la Caisse Desjardins de Granby -- Haute-Yamaska / For a co-operative business culture : changing corporate culture, case study of Caisse Desjardins de Granby -- Haute-Yamaska

Champagne-Racine, Jocelyne January 2016 (has links)
Abstract : This thesis describes the implementation of corporate culture changes at a Desjardins credit union branch and analyses how the process was achieved while ensuring it was in line with co-operative values and principles in the current context. The research is based on a unique case study for which data was collected in real time over the course of three years of regular observation. The thesis is qualitative in nature and shows the importance of instilling a renewed sense of co-operation among managers and employees, using new metaphors to convey its full meaning. It also stresses the need to better understand the different stages for building a co-operative business culture and provides a three-phrase model for transforming corporate culture within a co-operative business, which adds to the body of work on the topic. Furthermore, the case study provides better information on the crucial role played by the leader and managers and on essential qualities for a successful transition to a co-operative business culture.

Etické problémy na odděleních psychiatrické nemocnice / Ethics at the wards of psychiatric hospital

HOUŠKA, Jindřich January 2017 (has links)
Thesis deals with the ethical problems at the wards of psychiatric hospital. The environment of a psychiatric hospital in the context of its target group psychiatric patients is a source of ethically important situations, which must be solved by the medical social worker. This puts high demands on the worker as he is the/an executive tool of medical social work. The goal of the thesis is to identify ethically important situations, to suggest their solution and eventually to reflect these solutions with the ethical theories, ethical codes, inner rules of the psychiatric hospital and other statutory norms. The structure of the thesis is adjusted to this goal: first, I define the environment of the hospital, describe the target group and medical social worker profession. Secondly, I describe ethical problems identified before, suggest their solutions and reflect them. Finally, in the last part of the thesis, in the discussion, I contemplate about preliminary ethical understanding as a basis for identification of the ethical problems and I ponder other factors that matters in reaching the remedies of ethical problems.

Principles and Values from Cooperatives on Gotland: Fostering Sustainable Destination Development through Alternative Economies and Regenerative Practices

Rodoni, Valentina January 2022 (has links)
This research investigates the values and principles of cooperatives in relation to regenerative development and evaluates how these principles can be applied to foster SDD on Gotland. As alternative economies, cooperatives represent an opportunity to facilitate a regenerative type of development that is needed to face the issues brought by the capitalist system and the tourism industry. These many challenges were exacerbated by the Covid-19 crisis and emphasised the need to find new understandings of the tourism industry and of the way business is carried out in our societies. The evidence gathered from seven semi-structured interviews with the members of a Gotland’s cooperative was analysed in relation to frameworks of values and principles of regenerative development and tourism. Based on the findings and the theoretical background, four Cooperative Principles for Regenerative Development [CPRD] were derived and their potential application for SDD argued. The CPRD include the Support of entrepreneurs, the Commitment and good intent to carry out projects for the community’s wellbeing, Cooperation among stakeholders, associations, and GUBIS companies, and the Contribution to create a healthy, lively, and liveable society. In relation to SDD, the principles can be applied by supporting tourism stakeholder and entrepreneurs so that they can find convergence points among themselves, co-creating across multiple domains to catalyse positive system effects. Additionally, the CPRD can foster SDD by facilitating a discourse about alternative types of exchanges that evolves around an holistic type of economic development that is embedded in the natural ecosystem and is based on circularity and inclusivity.
