A new approach for medical device product documentation

Hamnede, Elisabet January 2017 (has links)
Hardware and software developers rely on different tools for document management, product data management (PDM) and software configuration management (SCM). As more and more products include components of both types there is a growing demand for one collaborative system. This becomes even more critical in the medical sector, where a device is under regulatory demands for document management to even be allowed in to the market. Combined systems become more complex and are generally based on PDM-principles rather than SCM. Current development of SCM tends instead towards simpler systems focused on pure version control (VCS) that are easy to use and economically available to small- and medium sized enterprises (SME), which is not the case with generic PDM-systems or combined systems. This study explored the possibility to extend the usage of such a VCS and include hardware documentation as well as software. The aim was to further our understanding of the SME perspective on product documentation for the medical device field. The method was a case study, collaboration with a SME development company. The scope was to explore possible usage of a chosen VCS (GitLab) and to compare it with a generic PDM-system and with existing manual system. The results showed that for several of the hardware document types there are special made Git-solutions to find within the open source community. However, none of the ones tested in the study was deemed good enough with respect to functionality and reliability. Instead the case study used direct storage of the files in their binary format and focused on testing different VCS functions and on how to organize in order to best gain the advantages of using the system. The conclusions showed that hardware documents can be stored in the same iterative manner as software but with limited Git functionality. Compared with a PDM system GitLab can offer the same level of revision control and communication around the specifications but lacks classification of parts and detailed product structures. GitLab offers better iteration history than both a PDMsystem and the existing manual system does. But not being able to use full Git functionality the organization needs a collaboration strategy to handle the decentralized storage. If the collaboration strategy matches the organization development practices, GitLab is a useful alternative for medical device documentation.

Choosing between Git and Subversion : How does the choice affect software developers?

Spandel, Daniel, Kjellgren, Johannes January 2014 (has links)
Today a lot of software projects are using version control systems for maintaining their software source code. There are a lot of version control systems, and the choice of which one to choose is far from simple. Today the two biggest version control systems are Git and Subversion. In this paper we have found the main differences between the two, and investigated how the choice between them affects software developers. Although software developers in many aspects are unaffected by the choice, we did find some interesting findings. When using Git, our empirical study shows that software developers seem to check in their code to the main repository more frequently than they do when using Subversion. We also found indications that software developers tend to use Subversion with a graphical interface, whereas the preferred interface for working with Git seems to be command-line. We were also surprised of how insignificant the learning aspect of the systems seems to be for the developers. Our goal with this paper is to provide a foundation to stand upon when choosing what version control system to use for a software project.

Andrýsek, Jakub January 2017 (has links)
This work is focused on the software compensation of the geometric and volumetric errors. In the thesis there are descripted the measuring instruments suitable for measuring geometric and volumetric errors of the machine tool. In addition, there are described control systems and selected software compensations currently used in the machine tools. In the experimental part of the thesis there is briefly described the machining machine where the experiment was performed. Detailed procedures for using the used measuring instruments are also described. The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of the size of the compensated volume on the geometric and volumetric precision of the machine tool.

Stäubert, Sebastian 20 November 2017 (has links)

Characterizing the Role of Acetylcholinesterase in Mouse Cardiomyoctyte Proliferation and Differentiation

Robinson, Jessica 29 October 2013 (has links)
There is scarce information on the fate of cardiac progenitor cells (CPC) in the embryonic heart after chamber specification. Furthermore, the role of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) during heart development is unknown, despite record of its presence in the myocardium. Although three molecular variants of AChE (R, H and T) exist due to alternate splicing, temporal and spatial distribution of these splice variants during cardiac ontogeny is not well characterized. We hypothesized that the AChE “R” splice variant (AChE-R) is involved in directing lineage commitment of mouse ventricular CPCs to the conduction cell phenotype. It is possible that AChE may promote the breakdown of ACh and block the effects of ligand-binding via M2 receptors present on the surface of CPCs. Our study has also provided a platform to suggest that AChE may play a role in the molecular mechanisms underlying functional diversification of myocardial cells into conduction system cells during ontogenesis.

Moreno, B. 02 July 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Subspace-Based Semi-Blind Channel Estimation in Uplink OFDMA Systems

Pan, Chun-Hsien 04 August 2008 (has links)
This thesis investigates the semi-blind channel estimation in uplink (UL) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems based on subspace decomposition. We exploit the orthogonality between signal subspace and noise subspace induced by virtual carriers (VCs) and cyclic prefix (CP) and the property of that the exclusive sub-carriers set is assigned to each user to estimate and identify the channels for each user individually. In OFDMA systems, when some users don¡¦t communicate with base station, the sub-carriers of non-active user provide extra redundancy for channel estimate to enhance the accuracy of channel estimation. Furthermore, the sufficient channel identifiability condition is developed. Furthermore, a novel scheme, called as virtual carriers recovery (VCR) scheme, is proposed to improve the performance of the subspace-based channel estimation method. It suppresses the noise interference by recovering the VCs to zeros at receiver. The simulation results illustrate that the enhancement of VCR scheme is particularly apparent for the partially loaded OFDMA system at low signal to noise ratio (SNR). In addition, the VCR scheme increases the convergence rate of the subspace-base semi-blind channel estimation.
