Metafory přírody v týdeníku Reflex / Metaphors of Nature in the Weekly Magazine Reflex

Vacířová, Martina January 2011 (has links)
The M.A. thesis Metaphors of Nature in the Czech Weekly 'Reflex' explores the question of how the changing human-nature relationship is reflected in this journal's writing on nature over the period of the last twenty years. The rationale for the choice of the Reflex weekly magazine is that it is not focused on nature or nature-related themes, and thus what we find in it can help us understand how the relationship between humans and nature has changed not only in the journal, but also in society. The principal assumption underlying the present effort is that the many and variegated existing forms of the relationship between humanity and nature transform themselves into various metaphors. By uncovering and analyzing these metaphors we are able to better understand this relationship itself. The theoretical section of this thesis discusses various ways of understanding the metaphor in general, including the conceptual metaphor approach developed by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson which is applied to the textual material in the subsequent empirical section. The theoretical chapters also present a number of metaphors of nature that have previously been analyzed in the literature, and their implications for the human-nature relationship are indicated. The empirical section contains an analysis of the...

VeckoRevyn – din bästa vän i vått och torrt? : En kvalitativ undersökning om innehåll och tilltalssätt i VeckoRevyn.

Sedghi, Mona January 2010 (has links)

“VeckoRevyn – your best friend in good times and bad?” is a BA thesis based on a weekly lifestyle magazine, VeckoRevyn, with a female demographic aged 18-25. Issues of the magazine, published in 2009 and on, is analyzed and dissected to better understand and be able to get answers for the questions of issue. What is said in the magazine, and how does the message reach the audience? Furthermore, the message, as well as the tone used to convey it, is reviewed as part of the discussion about consequence. The goal of this study is to show how, based on the material analyzed, a woman is spoken to in the magazine, and what kind of consequences this might have.

VeckoRevyn claims it desires tobea close friend to its readers, a friend who enlightens and guides. But the fact is that in every case studied, there is an underlying message on how the readers have the chance to reach something better and more desirable based on her looks and appearance. How is this possible when in fact the magazine creates an artificial reality filled with unattainable ideals? This results in more stress in the lives of women, who constantly long to be “good enough”. The idea of beauty, which is a common theme throughout the issues of the magazine, is unfortunately based on a myth. This in turn results in mental exhaustion, a twisted self- image, low self esteem, anorexia and bulimia among its young female audience.

Keywords: weekly magazine, VeckoRevyn, content, tone, the beauty myth, ideals, consequences

Obraz životního stylu 60.let na stránkách týdeníku Vlasta / Image of the lifestyle of the sixties according to Vlasta weekly magazine

Blinková, Karolína January 2013 (has links)
My master thesis examines lifestyle in the sixties of the 20th century as depicted on pages of Vlasta weekly magazine. Vlasta has been published since 1947 and thanks to the long continuity and grounding in the Czech environment, it is considered to be a traditional magazine. It has gained and maintained its broad network of readers throughout the years and is considered to be a leading magazine of Czechoslovak women during the communist era. In my thesis, I focus on the content analysis of the magazine in years 1960 - 1968. The thesis is set in a historical, social and media context. I emphasize the topics that are closely related to lifestyle. The areas that determine the lifestyle and on which I focus are, in particular, housing issues, workload, family relations, education, fashion, art and leisure time. I have also covered questions involving emancipation of women and their position in society. I also deal with the question whether the image of the lifestyle as presented by the Vlasta magazine matched the actual lifestyle of people in the sixties. In addition, I examine whether the magazine actually fulfilled the role of a weekly magazine for women, as it is well known that Vlasta was under the political supervision. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and analytical. The...

Porovnání proměn obsahu Týdeníku Československé televize v letech 1989 a 1990 / Comparison of changes in content of weekly Czechoslovakian television schedule magazine between years 1989 and 1990

Bednařík Štefl, Aneta January 2019 (has links)
This thesis compares two selected editions of a programme journal Czechoslovakian Television Weekly, specifically years 1989 and 1990. This journal had been issued between years 1965 and 1990 and used to be one of the main sources of a television programme of the Czechoslovakian Television, which was daily watched in many households. Except for the television programme, the journal also dealt with society-wide questions and this made it even more attractive to readers. As a result there was no shortage of readers, nor viewers of the television. Thanks to the vast popularity among readers as well as a close link to the Czechoslovakian Television, the journal was one of the tools to influence the public opinion. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the level of influence of changing political-economical- social situation in Czechoslovakia to journal editions of years 1989 and 1990. After the theoretical foundations that guide readers to understand examined documents and society-wide circumstances, the thesis identifies sections of the journal that are relevant for the analysis and subsequently in the practical part introduces the analysis of relevant sections of the journal. For each section, there is an analysis of both examined editions of the journal and by comparing them is reached a...

Digitaliseringens påverkan på veckotidningsbranschen – En fallstudie på företaget Aller media

Holmstedt, Jonas, Larsson, Rebecca January 2020 (has links)
Due to the obvious impact of digitalisation on the magazine industry in combination with lack of previous scientific studies on the subject - this study seeks to increase the knowledge andunderstanding of how the phenomenon of digitalisation has affected companies in the magazine industry. The purpose of the study is primarily to investigate how the company Aller media and its business models have been affected by digitalisation. To investigate this, two qualitative interviews were initially conducted with two managers at Aller media. The interviews were then supplemented with a web survey that were answered by Aller medias employees. The results from the data collection methods show that digitalisation has had a significant impact on Aller media with both positive and negative consequences. In total, Aller media has adapted well since digitalization and with the adoption of new digital business models the company has laid a good basis for remaining relevant in an increasingly digitalized future.

The corpus includes cover articles on education published between 1968-2006. The articles were divided into three thematic axes: school, family and brain/intelligence. This, however, was a methodological division as the axes are intertwined. Our analysis focused on the discursive constructions and strategies for production of meaning adopted by the enunciator when proposing communicative contracts to the reader. The conclusion of the analysis is that one must know to be able to tell one what to do . We analyzed similar thematic axes in different periods which allowed the contextualization of the articles relative to their respective social, political and historical scenarios. The study also analyzed the instruments and mechanisms employed by the enunciator to persuade the reader on what to do[CN1] , which is presented by the magazine in the form of modalizing primers//booklets//statements[CN2] . The study was based on the theories of discourse of Fiorin & Barros, Prado, Braga & Calazans, Mira, Scalzo and Germano among others. The basic analysis of the corpus was carried out based on discursive semiotics. The debate proposed by this study about education in the media aims to contribute to clarify issues arising from the intertwining of the fields of education and communication, as stated by Morin, which is only possible through the mediation and circulation of symbolic capital / Esta pesquisa examina as reportagens de capa da revista Veja que tematizam a educação .
