The problem of this study was to determine the degree of suitability of the available industrial arts textbooks for classroom use in the subject area of woodworking. In order to arrive at satisfactory conclusions relative to the problem, it was necessary to seek answers to the following questions. 1. What textbooks are available for teachers of industrial arts for the subject area of woodworking? 2. How can the textbooks be classified according to subject area and grade level? 3. Are criteria available for use in determining the suitability of woodworking textbooks for a sound industrial arts program? 4. Are the available textbooks suitable for classroom use in the area of woodworking?

The problem of this study was to determine what are the maintenance practices and to what extent are they being used by industrial arts teachers in the subject areas of woodworking, metalworking, and drafting at the secondary level in the state of Texas.

The primary purpose of the study is twofold: first, to develop a set of criteria that can be used effectively to evaluate projects that will develop in students those skills and concepts emphasized in the goals and objectives of industrial arts; and second, to evaluate these projects by using evaluative criteria developed for that purpose. After the completion of the study, a convenient source book of projects for teachers will be compiled.

This is a study of the course offerings in machine woodworking I and II in the high schools in the state of Texas to ascertain if any deviations have been made from the state proscribed course of study to meet the individual needs of the community.

The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of the power woodworking equipment used for instructional purposes in the high schools of Texas, the amount of money needed to repair and maintain the equipment now in use, the various policies followed by the schools in regard to the purchasing and maintenance of this equipment, the makes of machinery most frequently found, the average age of the equipment, and the makes and types of woodworking machines preferred by the instructors for instructional purposes.

I have been overwhelmed by curiosity, a curiosity that is keeping my desire to make valid. I have an endless infatuation with growth and constructing. My aim is to juxtapose an academic and a "rudimentary" approach that will set up contradictions in which traditional woodworkers may find irreverence towards.
