An Examination of the Relationship Between Course Schedule Type and AP Exam Score

Mott, Brian T. 12 November 2013 (has links)
Since the release of A Nation at Risk in 1983 student performance on a variety of high stakes tests have become increasingly important in educational settings. The results of this type of assessment are quantifiable, and are intended to indicate certain levels of academic performance and achievement. Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are one example of high stakes tests. With the rapid growth of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the corresponding popularity of the AP Exams there is a need in the research to identify specific variables that may be influential to AP Exam score performance. Course schedule type, either in the 4⨉4 block or traditional yearlong format, has been examined as a variable that influences student AP Exam score performance. In some studies the implementation of a 4⨉4 block in place of a traditional yearlong course schedule type resulted in increased AP Exam score performance, while in other studies replacement of a traditional yearlong course schedule by a 4⨉4 block course schedule type resulted in decreased AP Exam score performance. The limitations in the existing research present a need for more controlled studies using multiple years of data to further examine the relationship between clearly identified course schedule types and AP Exam score performance. In response to the need, this research performed a controlled study and examined the relationship between three specific course schedule types and AP Exam performance over time. This study analyzed sample data using participants (N=428) from a single institution in a southeastern state in the United States enrolled in the same AP course subject, taught by the same instructor, and who completed the same subject AP Exam over multiple years (2008-2012). / Ph. Income Adjustments form Fee and Permit Changes on Utah Cattle Ranches Using Public Ranges Yearlong

Gee, C. Kerry 01 May 1962 (has links)
Within the boundaries of Utah are approximately 52.7 million acres of land. About 41 million acres are rangeland, of which 73 percent is federally owned and 5 percent state owned (6).1 The portion owned by the Federal government is administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Forest Service. Most of this land is either arid or mountainous and has been used mainly for grazing in the past. IT has other uses, however, such as mining, forestry, recreation, and watersheds. Due to recent increases in population, personal income, shorter work weeks, and improved transportation facilities, these alternatives are becoming strong competitors for the use of this land.

Lietuvos merginų krepšinio rinktinių 1990 – 1992 metų gimimo krepšininkių rengimas, fizinių galių ir techninio parengtumo kaita per metus / The lithuanian basketball team of girl players born from 1990 - 1992 physical powers and technical readiness per year

Bankauskas, Marius 24 September 2008 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / While preparing the young feminine basketball players who can participate in various age championships and later masters of sport for the national team, it is important to observe the technical level of players, to analyse their physical development, functional abilities and annual training cycle. The aim of the research is to analyse the annual training cycle of Lithuanian feminine combined team (years of birth 1990 - 1992), their physical capacity, development, technical preparation and the change of the mentioned factors during the year. It is fixed that the young Olympic Lithuanian basketball players made a progress in physical abilities during the season and the end of the season reached a higher level. The static power and the anaerobic muscular power which were influenced by acceleration during the training and competition, and the frequency of motions achieved the suitable level for the basketball players. The single muscular contract power also increased, bet this muscular power has not achieved the appropriate level for the basketball players. After defining the body weight it was obvious that the average team weight increased in more grease than in muscles. At the end of the season the results of technical training were better than the beginning of the season. We established that in the given age group and corresponds the recommendation of tutors but the number of hours for special physical training should be increased.
