För cirkulär ekonomi i byggbranschen med materialet trä : En omvärldsstudie för nationell implementering

The Swedish construction industry is growing at the same rate as its population, boosting the climate impact and increasing waste volumes. To counteract this there needs to be an easier way to handle virgin raw materials that otherwise threaten the climate. Through recycling, we extend the service life and reduce the amount of waste. More knowledge about emission reduction of wood construction and its potential for recycling is needed. International development is at the forefront and hopefully, it can be implemented in the Swedish construction industry as well.    The purpose of this study is to shed light on current product developments and their potential to further a circular economy for wood materials. The goal is to gain an understanding of current developments and to identify recycling methods that can be used in the Swedish construction industry through a qualitative interview- and literature study.    The study identifies different obstacles and opportunities for the Swedish construction industry and its recycling potential. There’s some development regarding documentation, tracking of products, and design for recycling. International projects such as Gentrae, demountable wooden beams, and CLT can be implemented nationally. To achieve this there needs to be a legislative correction that promotes a circular economy.
