O estudo foi realizado com dez gestantes/puérperas com HIV, que freqüentavam um Serviço de Atendimento Especializado em DST/Aids, em um município do interior do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. A coleta de dados foi iniciada em abril de 2005 e se estendeu até maio de 2006. Para tanto, foram realizados encontros individuais com as participantes, nos quais, foi aplicado um instrumento previamente elaborado, baseado na Teoria do Autocuidado de Dorothea Orem utilizando como base os requisitos de autocuidado: universais, desenvolvimentais e desvio de saúde. Além disso, foi realizado um grupo focal no qual se buscou resposta mais consistente para algumas questões que ficaram pendentes. Todas as entrevistas, assim como o encontro em grupo, foram gravados transcritos, categorizados e interpretados. As categorias de análise foram assim determinadas: 1 - o perfil das participantes; 2 - os déficits de autocuidado; 3 - fatores que dificultam no engajamento do autocuidado; 4 - fatores que contribuem no engajamento do autocuidado; 5 - as mudanças de atitudes e 6 - perspectivas para o futuro. Durante as entrevistas, foi possível, além dos objetivos de pesquisa propostos, promover um ambiente acolhedor e de interação entre enfermeira e cliente. No grupo, as participantes do estudo tiveram a oportunidade de trocar experiências de vida, compartilhar seus medos, saberes, angústias e, a partir daí, buscar juntas, clientes e enfermeira, a competência necessária para o autocuidado.
The present research is a qualitative study of the assistencial convergent kind, which has as its main objective to understand and analyze the flaws concerning the self-care of pregnant and puerperal women suffering from HIV/Aids and also to identify the variables which might influence in the enrollment into the self-care. The study was conducted with ten of pregnant and puerperal women with HIV, who frequented a Service of Attendance Specialized in DST/AIDS, in a city of the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The data collection was initiated in April, 2005 and it extended itself until May, 2006. In order to collect the data individual meetings with the participants had been carried through, in which an instrument previously elaborated, based on Dorothea Orem's Self-care Theory having as specific basis the following requirements of self-care: universal, developmental and shunting line of health. Besides that, a focal group was carried through to search a more consistent reply for some questions that had been left unanswered. All the interviews, as well as the group meetings, had been recorded, transcribed, categorized and interpreted. The categories of analysis had been determined thusly: 1 - the profile of the participants; 2 - self-care deficit; 3 - variants which make it difficult the enrollment in self-care; 4 - variants that contribute in the enrollment in self-care; 5 - the changes of attitudes and 6 - future perspectives. During the interviews, it was possible, besides the considered objectives of the research, to promote a friendly environment and interaction between nurse and client. In the group, the participants of the study had had the chance to exchange life experiences, to share their fears, knowledge, distress and from then on, to search as a group, client and nurse, the necessary ability for the self-care.
