Unga i fokus : En kritisk diskursanalys av hur unga framställs i socialtjänstens barnavårdsutredningar gällande 3§LVU, rekvisitet brottslig verksamhet. / Young People in Focus : A critical discourse analysis of how young people are portrayed in the social services child welfare investigations regarding to third paragraph LVU, the criterion of criminal activity.

This study aims to examine how young people are portrayed in child welfareinvestigations that process juvenile delinquency, to deepen understandings of howthese portrayals may contribute to stigmatization and labelling of children andyoung people. To answer the study’s purpose and questions a qualitative method hasbeen used. We have read fourteen randomly selected child welfare investigationswritten in 2023. The child welfare investigations have been read and analysed with Faircloughs three-dimensional model. The theoretical basis of the study is socialconstructionism, to be able to analysis the result we have been using ErvingGoffman theory Stigmatization and Howard. S. Becker theory about labelling. Theresult of the study revealed four discourses, young people's attitudes, young peopleand ADHD, designations on young people and friendship circles of young people. The presentation of the young people in the childcare investigations indicates thateverything the young people do that does not follow society's norms andstereotypical expectations is seen as problematic by the social workers. We havebeen able to analyse that it leads to both stigmatization and labelling of the youngpeople. This in turn leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy where they define themselvesas criminals.
