Previous issue date: 2006-09-23 / This study approaches the female representation on politic issues in Goiás from 1992
a 2002 under the perspective of women´s participation on the political field since the
cotes law was created in 1995. This law had as the main objective to increase iquality
between genders and increase female presence in elections.
The analisis is supported by the notions of “identity” described by Manuel Castells,
and “politic representation” and “male´s domination” by Pierre Bourdieu. In the
search for comprension of the relations among women, power and politics and, to
show the importance of discussing transformations occurred in female
representations in Goiás, we divided this study in three chapters which discuss the
structural limits of female representation; the nature of this politic of cotes, and, writh
an empiric basis, characterize the changes in the scenery on the reagion´s politics.
Finally, this study identifys the roles performed by females in political issues of
Goiânia and it shows the strong presence of the first-ladies in females positions. / Este trabalho aborda a representação feminina na política em Goiás, no período de
1992 a 2002, sob a perspectiva da participação das mulheres no campo político a
partir da criação da Lei de cotas, instituída no processo eleitoral brasileiro em 1995.
O fundamento da Lei esteve em, explicitamente, diminuir as desigualdades de
gênero e aumentar a presença feminina nas disputas eleitorais.
A análise apoia-se na noção de “identidade” de Manuel Castells e de “representação
política” e “dominação masculina” de Pierre Bourdieu. Na busca de compreender as
relações entre mulher, poder e política e revelar a importância de se discutir as
transformações ocorridas na representação feminina em Goiás estruturamos o
trabalho em 3 capítulos, que discutem os limites estruturais à representação
feminina, a natureza conceitual da política de cotas e, com base empírica,
caracteriza as mudanças no cenário político regional.
Por fim, este trabalho identifica os papéis desempenhados pelas representantes
femininas na política goiana e ressalta a forte presença das primeiras-damas nos
cargos de representação feminina.
