Tyrimo aktualumas: Šiuolaikinio darbo pasaulio keliami reikalavimai žmogui sąlygoja būtinybę turėti tam tikrus gebėjimus bei savybes, įgalinančias atliepti tuos reikalavimus bei įveikti socialinių transformacijų laikotarpiu iškylančius barjerus. Kitaip tariant, šiuolaikiniame darbo pasaulyje žmogui yra būtina karjeros kompetencija (Stanišauskienė, 2004, p.2).
Tyrimo objektas: Universiteto studentų karjeros kompetencija.
Tyrimo tikslas: Ištirti universiteto studentų karjeros kompetenciją.
Tyrimo metodika: Šiame darbe naudotas kiekybinis tyrimas. Siekiant išsiaiškinti Šiaulių universiteto Edukologijos fakulteto studentų karjeros kompetenciją, buvo atlikta anketinė apklausa raštu. Norėdami identifikuoti tikrąją situaciją ir gauti kuo tikslesnius tyrimo rezultatus, vykdytas anoniminis anketavimas. Be to, buvo naudojama aprašomoji statistika, t. y. Spearmano koreliacijos koeficientas, chi kvadrato (χ2) kriterijus, o skaičiavimai atlikti SPSS 16 versijos programine įranga. Tyrimo metu buvo apklausti 279 tiriamieji.
Išvados:
• Respondentai supranta karjerą kaip tobulėjimą sėkmingai pasirinktos veiklos kryptimi, o karjeros kompetenciją kaip gebėjimus, įgūdžius, savybes reikalingas tiek siekiant karjeros, tiek asmeniniame gyvenime. Vadinasi, respondentai suvokia, kad tiek karjeros, tiek karjeros kompetencijos samprata yra daugialypė bei susidedanti iš įvairių aspektų.

In other words, the career competence is obligatory in the contemporary labour world (Stanisauskiene, 2004, p.2).

Aim of the Survey: to analyse the career competence of university students.
The Survey methodology: the quantitative research was applied in the Work. In order to identify career competences of students from the Faculty of Education, Siauliai University, the questionnaire was applied. The anonymous method was used with an aim to identify the real situation and to get the precise results. Moreover, the descriptive statistics was applied, i.e. Spearman correlation coefficient, chi square (χ2) criterion; calculations were implemented by aids of SPSS 16 software. 279 respondents were interviewed during the Survey.
Conclusions:
• Respondents understand the conception of career as the development towards the selected activity and the career competence and skills, abilities, features, necessary in seeking the career as well as in personal life. Therefore, respondents understand that the concept of career and career competence is multiple and combined from various aspects.
