Previous issue date: 2009-08-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Based on Vygotsky s mediation theory, the objective of this thesis was to study the development of the child s verbal communication (linguistic and cognitive acquisition). The analysis of the interpretation corpus of the logical sequences made by children aged 2 to 10 was done using the theoretical-methodological framework of the theory of the Matrix of Verbal Language and its sub modalities. We understand that the classifications that emerge from the levels and sub levels of the Verbal Matrix permit us to observe the gradual development of the child s verbal language through the analysis of the evolution of the narrative processes. The use of the classifications of the Verbal Matrix made it possible for us to study the strategies of the building of the verbal language in the initial age groups and to observe the gradual evolution of the processes of description and narrative to more complex levels in the course of the child s linguistic and cognitive development. We have come to the conclusion there is a process that generates the narrative development which begins in less complex narrative units and evolves into more complex units. They describe the cognitive profiles and the development of the child s thinking and verbal communication / Com base na teoria da mediação de Vygotsky, o objetivo desta tese foi estudar o desenvolvimento da comunicação verbal (aquisição lingüística e cognitiva) da criança. A analise do corpus de interpretações de seqüências lógicas efetuadas por crianças de 2,0 a 10,0 anos de idade foi realizada com o arcabouço teórico-metodológico da teoria das Matrizes da Linguagem e Pensamento de Santaella (2001), utilizando especificamente a teoria da Matriz da Linguagem Verbal e suas submodalidades. Entendemos que as classificações que emergem dos níveis e subníveis da Matriz Verbal nos permitem uma observação do desenvolvimento gradativo da linguagem verbal da criança, através da análise da evolução dos processos de narratividade. A utilização das classificações da Matriz Verbal permitiu estudar as estratégias de construção da linguagem verbal em faixas etárias iniciais e observar a evolução gradativa dos processos de descrição e de narratividade, para níveis de maior complexidade no curso do desenvolvimento lingüístico e cognitivo da criança. Concluímos que há um processo gerativo de desenvolvimento da narratividade que se inicia com unidades menos complexas de narração, e evolui para unidades mais complexas. Estas descrevem os perfis cognitivos e o desenvolvimento do pensamento e da comunicação verbal da criança
