Perfil sociodemográfico, clínico e familiar de dependentes químicos em tratamento em um centro de atenção psicossocial-álcool e outras drogas da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba

Defesa: Curitiba, 20/12/2012 / Inclui referências / Área de concentração: Prática profissional de enfermagem / Resumo / Abstract: This is a descriptive cross-sectional quantitative survey, which had the following guiding question: What is thesocial-demographical, clinical and family profile of drug addicts in treatment in the Psychosocial Care Center - Alcohol and other Drugs? The study had the general objective of setting the main features of drug addicts undergoing treatment in thePsychosocial Care Center, regarding social-demographic, clinical and family profile of drug abuse. The study gathered 163 addicts in treatment in a Psychosocial Care Center - Alcohol and other Drugs. The data collection occurred from January to June 2012, using a semi-structured instrument built to obtain data for the following questions: age, gender, ethnicity, religion, place of birth, education, marital status, number of children, job, occupation, employment status, family income, benefit the National Social Security Institute (INSS), previous history of family affected by substance abuse, who offered drugs for the first time, psychoactive substance with which started the use, substance of preference, dependence of multiple drugs, frequency of drug use, the reason why it started, diagnosis according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). The variables were fed in a Excel 2007® worksheet and analyzed using a descriptive quantitative methodology. The results obtained were described as average, minimum and maximum values, and standard deviations (quantitative variables) or as frequencies and percentages (qualitative variables) then it was illustrated through tables and presented by a quantitative, contextualized perspective with other studies on this subject. The profile of the addicts in treatment showed that they were essentially male, white, Catholic, born in Curitiba, middle school dropout, unmarried, childless, unemployed bricklayer, one to three minimum wages as family income, and not receiving any benefits of thesocial security. Those who receive the benefit do it usually because of the addiction; they have relatives who are also addicts,most commonly the brother or sister. The familiar drug of choice is alcohol; it is also the drug that is usually the first to be used by the participants and their drug of choice. The participants have multiple substance dependence with the association of alcohol and tobacco, both consumed daily. The initial use of psychoactive substances wasdue to the influence of friends, and most of the diagnoses related to substance abuse are classified as F10. They have had suicidal ideation but have not triedto suicide those who have, tried so once, using medicine intoxication. They do not show other mental disorders, when they doit was trigged after starting the use of psychoactive substances. The study achieved the goal of setting the main features of drug addicts and it contributes to the practice of nurses and other professionals, allowing the planning of therapeutic actions for the ones who have this profile of patients.
