In this study, the characters in Donna Tartts novel The Secret History is analysed. The purpose of the study is to clarify some central values, valuations, and world views of the characters. Moreover, how the values, valuations and world views align with each other is evaluated. The study showed that the characters values loyalty, availability and to be a unique group of people. In addition to that, some valuations showed in the study is that a society is in justice when thepopulation stays at their level of social and economic status. Therefore, the characters judgeother based on what they achieve. The characters believe that the only desire of the humanbeing is to live forever, which for them is possible through the belief that death is a shift of matter. For them, death is the apex of beauty – and beauty is terror
