Previous issue date: 2008-05-05 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / When taking into consideration the need to understand the communicative
dimension of environments, this research work faces two complementary
challenges, treated as hypothesis: the first to define and perceive the
environment as a cognitive entity, and therefore, to envision the communications
aspect of ecology. These challenges lead to an analysis of contemporary
environments, as well as analyzing theories of communication, from early
research works developed by the Chicago School and by the Critical Theory,
to cybernetics and the most recent understanding of complex systems. The
research work not only allowed a definitive appreciation of environments as a
representation of learning methods and the acquisition of relatable knowledge,
but also to promote a clear definition of the relationships between human and
natural systems. Mainly, it became possible to understand that the challenges
proposed by environmental dynamics stimulate an epistemological change:
the building of a trans-disciplinary thought able to reveal the ecological nature
of communication s thought and theory / Ao considerar como problemática central a necessidade de se compreender
a dimensão comunicativa dos ambientes, este trabalho encara dois desafios
complementares, apresentados como hipóteses: primeiramente entender
o ambiente como quadro cognitivo e a partir daí, enxergar a dimensão
comunicativa do pensamento ecológico. A proposta da pesquisa conduziu
a uma análise de ambientes contemporâneos, bem como de abordagens
teóricas da comunicação, desde as pesquisas desenvolvidas pela Escola
de Chicago e pela Teoria Crítica, até a cibernética e o mais recente estudo
do funcionamento de sistemas complexos. Tal investigação possibilitou não
somente a compreensão de ambientes como representações de formas de
pensar e conhecer, como também conduziu a um entendimento das relações
entre sistemas humanos e naturais. Foi possível enxergar, principalmente, que
os desafios propostos pela dinâmica ambiental estimulam uma transformação
epistemológica: a configuração de um pensamento transdisciplinar capaz de
revelar a dimensão ecológica do próprio pensamento comunicacional
