Prästers och diakoners emotionshantering : En kvantitativ undersökning av den psykosociala arbetsmiljön i kyrkan relaterat till emotioner

The purpose of this essay is to describe some dimensions of the psychosocial work environment for priests and deacons in the Church of Sweden. The essay aims to describe the essay occurrence of a spiritual dimension wich can work as additional support in the psychosocial work environment. With a starting-point in Karasek & Theorell’s (1990) demand-control-support theory, Hochschilds theory (1983) in emotional labor and Collins (2004) theory in emotional energy has this essay searched for the answer in to what extent demand, control, emotional work and stress occurs in the Church of Sweden, and to what extent priests and deacons experience emotional energy and social and spiritual guidance. This was made by quantitative method, 95 paper surveys were answered by priests and deacons. The result of the study shows that there is a reasonable demand level and a high extent of control in the Church of Sweden. It occurred that the emotional work occurre in a high extent and the informants in the survey experienced a low stresslevel. Furthermore the existent of social support was high and there were a high grade of private social support. The informants also experienced an emotional energy and a spiritual guidance in a high grade. The conclusion of the essay was that in the Church of Sweden the social work environment was good for the informants in this survey. Social support and the spiritual guidance contribute the informants to be less responsive to stress-issues
