Previous issue date: 2015-03-02 / Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás - FAPEG / This research comes from the need to seek new ways to understand how Environmental Education at school has been worked and the contribution of Geography and Biology teaching, subjects that offer knowledge related to environmental issues due to the reflection of social relevance to human survival, requiring practical pedagogical actions. Colégio Estadual Dr. Vasco dos Reis Gonçalves, in Urutaí (GO), was taken as evidence base for this research, because it is the only public high school in the city. To understand the contribution of Geography and Biology Teaching for the Environmental Education, it is discussed about: the principles of environmental education; Geography and Biology Teaching and the ways the research took in Colégio Estadual Dr. Vasco dos Reis Gonçalves. It was analysed: Documents from IBGE (2013); Law 9.795/1999; Federal Law 6.938/81; Article 225 of the 1988 Brazilian Constitution; Law 7.797/89; The School Pedagogical Political Project; data found in the SIAP to check the contents worked in 3rd year of high school in the subjects of Geography and Biology. It was applied: 32 questionnaires, 26 focus group interviews and photographic records made between 2013 and 2014. This thesis is organized into three sections, besides the introduction and the final considerations that seek for contemplating the proposed aims to pursue the integration of the environmental issues to the social problems within the schools. Geography and Biology teaching allows students to acquire knowledge about environmental education, understanding which is essential to develop citizens with a sense of responsibility and prepared to change the environmental reality around you. In order to live better there must be environmental awareness transmitted and understood by students and society, a matter of survival to the future generations. / Essa pesquisa surge da necessidade de buscar novos caminhos para compreender como está sendo trabalhada a Educação Ambiental na Escola e a contribuição do ensino de Geografia e Biologia, disciplinas que propõem conhecimentos das questões ambientais em função do reflexo social de relevância para a sobrevivência humana, necessitando de ações pedagógicas práticas. O Colégio Estadual Dr. Vasco dos Reis Gonçalves, em Urutaí (GO), foi tomado como base empírica da pesquisa, por ser a única Escola Estadual com Ensino Médio no Município. Para compreender a contribuição do Ensino de Geografia e Biologia à Educação Ambiental discute-se sobre: os princípios da Educação Ambiental; o Ensino de Geografia e Biologia e os caminhos da pesquisa no Colégio Estadual Dr. Vasco dos Reis Gonçalves. Analisaram-se os documentos do IBGE (2013); Lei 9.795/1999; Lei Federal 6.938/81; artigo 225 da Constituição Brasileira de 1988; Lei 7.797/89; Projeto Político Pedagógico da Escola; dados contidos no SIAP para verificar os conteúdos trabalhados na 3ª série do Ensino Médio das disciplinas de Geografia e Biologia. Aplicaram-se32 questionários, 26 entrevistas de grupo focal e registros fotográficos realizados entre 2013 e 2014. A dissertação está organizada em três seções, além da introdução e das considerações finais, que buscam contemplar os objetivos propostos ao procurar integrar a questão ambiental à problemática social no interior das instituições escolares. O ensino de Geografia e Biologia permitem ao aluno adquirir conhecimentos em Educação Ambiental, saberes tão essenciais para formar cidadãos com senso de responsabilidade e preparados para mudar a realidade ambiental ao seu redor. Para que se viva melhor é necessário que haja sensibilização ambiental transmitida e compreendida pelos alunos e pela sociedade, uma questão de sobrevivência das futuras gerações.
