No último século, os paradigmas modernos, não obstante definidos por um pequeno número de profissionais, provocaram verdadeiras revoluções no pensamento arquitetônico. No Brasil, a influência modernista chegou à arquitetura nos últimos anos da década de 20, vinda principalmente da corrente racionalista européia, bem representada pelos mestres alemães e por Le Corbusier. Arquitetos e engenheiros adequaram os preceitos modernistas à realidade nacional, criando uma arquitetura genuinamente brasileira, reconhecida mundialmente, e que em poucos anos estava presente em muitos lugares do país.
Em Florianópolis, as primeiras edificações modernistas datam da década de 50, entre estas, algumas casas. Foi através da arquitetura intimista de residências que os princípios modernistas foram aplicados nos projetos, geralmente atendendo a famílias abastadas, atentas ao que havia de mais atual na época. A casa tradicional, com suas paredes auto-portantes, deu lugar à moderna, construída geralmente com estrutura de concreto armado, o que permitiu novos arranjos espaciais que buscavam integração e setorização de ambientes.
O presente trabalho traz alguns exemplares de residências unifamiliares, localizados na área central de Florianópolis, construídos nas décadas de 50, 60 e 70 e que apresentam, em maior ou menor grau, linguagem modernista. O objetivo é resgatar os princípios modernistas para habitação e destacar a importância dos projetos analisados, não só pela qualidade que apresentam, mas também pela importância histórica do seu registro, tanto para Florianópolis, quanto para o Brasil, por retratarem a difusão da arquitetura moderna pelo país.
In the 20th century, the standards of modernism, set by a small number of professionals, revolutionized ideas and studies about architecture. In Brazil, the influence of the movement arrived in the late 1920s, comming, mostly, from the rationalist current, well represented by the German professors and by Le Corbusier. Architects and engeneers adapted the modernist precepts to the reality of the country, eventually creating a kind of architecture genuinely brazilian, recognized worldwide, which, in a few years, became present in a great deal of places across the country.
In Florianopolis, the first modernist buildings were built in the 1950s. Some of them were houses. It was through the introspective architecture of those houses that modern principles were employed on the plans, generally serving the wealthiest part of the inhabitants, aware of what was new at the time. The traditional house, whose walls had a structural role, was replaced by the modern house, usually built with concrete and steel structure, which allowed new spacial solutions aiming for the integration and separation of rooms.
The present work contains some examples of private family houses, located in the central area of Florianopolis, built during the 1950s, 60s and 70s and which present, in a higher or lower degree, a modernist language. The objective is to rescue the principles of modernism in the residential architecture and emphasize the importance of the plans which has been analised, not only for the high quality they carry, but also because the historical relevance, to Florianopolis and to Brazil, since they picture the spreading of the modernist architecture throughout the country.
