Esta pesquisa analisa a história do Clube Esportivo e Recreativo Atlântico, situado em Erechim, RS, sua relação com a estruturação da cidade e a com a imigração italiana. Fundamenta-se na abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa, mais especificamente, em uma investigação de cunho historiográfico, cujas fontes primárias de consulta foram documentos originais encontrados em acervos históricos, além de reportagens de jornais, fotografias e livros que informavam sobre o clube desde sua criação até os dias atuais. A partir da análise dos dados coletados, foi possível identificar quatro etapas distintas na trajetória do clube. A primeira refere-se a sua criação, quando era denominada de Societá Italiana de Mutuo Soccorso XX de Setembre, e que mantinha, com uma finalidade primeira, o caráter assistencial aos seus associados, todos de origem italiana. A segunda fase, que inicia em meados de 1933, é marcada por alterações nas finalidades do clube que, além de socorrer os associados, também oferece atividades sociais e de lazer, tais como bailes, teatro e o jogo de bocha e de bolão. A terceira fase é marcada pela predominância do futebol como principal eixo das atividades desenvolvidas no clube. Nesta fase, apesar da ênfase que confere a esta modalidade em função da participação em campeonatos regionais e estaduais, o clube não deixa de oferecer outras opções de lazer para os seus associados, como, por exemplo, a bocha, o basquete, a ginástica e a realização de diferentes eventos sociais. A quarta fase se dá com o declínio do futebol, marcada pela implosão do estádio e pela construção do Complexo Esportivo e de Lazer que permite o oferecimento de oficinas pedagógicas de várias modalidades esportivas. Esta fase tem seu início em 1977 e se presentifica até a atualidade. Ao narrar a trajetória deste clube desde seus primeiros momentos e, com mais detalhamento, a partir de 1921, em função da documentação encontrada, posso afirmar que o Clube Esportivo e Recreativo Atlântico é, sem dúvida alguma, uma referência do associativismo esportivo na região norte do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. / This research analyses the history of Clube Esportivo e Recreativo Atlântico, which is located in Erechim-RS, its relation with the structure of the city and with the Italian immigration. The work is grounded on a qualitative approach of research, more specifically, on a historiographic investigation whose primary sources were original documents found in historical collections, newspaper reports, photographies and books that told the history of the club from its beginning until today. From the analysis of the data collected, it was possible to identify four distinct phases of the institution. The first phase refers to the club-house creation, when it was called Societá Italiana de Mutuo Soccorso XX de Setembre, whose main aim was to give assistance to its Italian fellowships. The second phase, which begins by the middle of 1933, is marked by alterations of the aims of the club, which besides giving assistance to fellowships also offers social activities and leisure, such as social balls, plays and lawn bowling games. The third phase is marked by the predominance of soccer as its main activity. Although its participation in state and local championships, the institution kept offering leisure and social activities, such as lawn bowling, basketball, gym and different social events. The fourth phase brings the decadence of soccer, marked by the implosion of its stadium and the construction of the Sports and Leisure Complex which allows to offer pedagogical workshops of several sports modalities. This phase started in 1977 and has lasted until today. The study of the trajectory of this entity, more specifically after 1921 due to the documents found, allows me the state that Clube Esportivo e Recreativo Atlântico is, undoubtedly, a reference for sports association in the north region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
