"Stopp! nu får ni sluta med det här! : Sex förskollärares förhållningssätt till barns konflikter och konflikthantering

The purpose of this study is to find out the teacher's views and responses to children's conflicts and conflict management. Through my qualitative study with six interviews at two preschools, I have found out how pre-school teachers work with children's conflicts and conflict management. Conflicts in preschool can arise in many situations, it may be that the children do not agree in a game or when they do not want to share a toy. Pre-school teachers need to ensure that every child learns to handle conflicts in the early age. If the pre-school teachers do not handle this, it can lead to consequences in the child's behavior. It is important that the pre-school teachers work with children's conflicts and conflict management. The results in this study show that conflicts can arise because the children have different views and opinions about a common subject. They also said that conflicts are developing for the children because they are learning how to handle conflicts. Pre-school teachers are working at the same way in conflict management. The pre-school teachers described that they let the children's handle the conflict or they stop the conflict and listen to the parties about how it happened. After that, they prevent the conflict together. A conclusion can be drawn to Cohens conflict pyramid that consists of four levels. These levels are based on steps in conflict management. Level 1 includes prevention, level 2, management, level 3, help and level 4, stop. The children are in level two and three, adults are also in those levels. There are no people at level one, which means that conflicts never happen. In level four, there are people who is in it, but it has not resulted in my interview study.
