Os acidentes de trabalho são desafios à sociedade, pois ocorrem em grande número e dependendo de sua gravidade afetam o trabalhador, sua família, empresa e sociedade. Os acidentes que ocorrem em hospitais, principalmente que envolvem perfurocortantes, aumentam os riscos de contaminação biológica. Em hospitais a equipe de enfermagem é a mais numerosa e executa diversos procedimentos. O objetivo geral foi traçar estratégias de prevenção que reduzam os riscos de acidentes ocupacionais com perfurocortantes com a enfermagem. É um estudo descritivo com abordagem quantitativa realizado no Hospital de Clínicas de Uberlândia com a equipe de enfermagem que relatou ter sofrido acidente de trabalho com perfurocortante de 2013 a 2016. Conclui-se que nem todos os profissionais de enfermagem do Hospital notificam seus acidentes; os trabalhadores que mais se acidentam em número absoluto são os técnicos de enfermagem; os profissionais com menor tempo de experiência profissional foram os que mais se acidentaram; os acidentes são mais frequentes no período diurno; o principal local no qual os trabalhadores sofreram acidente foi na sala de medicação. Os profissionais com preditor do risco de acidente de trabalho são os com 30 anos ou menos. Em relação às estratégias para prevenção dos acidentes de trabalho, sugere-se: estruturar um programa de capacitação institucional; criação de espaços nos quais os trabalhadores de enfermagem realize discussões referentes às situações de risco e medidas que possam de fato minimizar tais condições; rever fluxo de atendimento no pronto socorro dos funcionários vítimas de acidente; e verificar possibilidade de acompanhar o acidentado enquanto o mesmo aguarda atendimento. Enfim, por mais que as empresas invistam em equipamentos, materiais, estrutura física, e em otimização de processos, o que de fato garantirá o seu sucesso são os trabalhadores. Assim, é importante que a instituição invista em seus trabalhadores, valorizando as pessoas. / Accidents at work are challenges to society, as they occur in large numbers and depending on their severity affect the worker, his family, company and society. Accidents occurring in hospitals, especially involving sharps, increase the risk of biological contamination. In hospitals, the nursing team is the most numerous and performs several procedures. The overall objective was to outline prevention strategies that reduce the risks of occupational accidents with sharps with nursing. It is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach performed at the Uberlândia Hospital of Clinics with the nursing team that reported having suffered a sharpworking accident from 2013 to 2016. It is concluded that not all nursing professionals at the Hospital report their accidents; The workers who are most affected in absolute numbers are the nursing technicians; The professionals with the least time of professional experience were the ones who had the most accidents; Accidents are more frequent in the daytime period; The main location in which the workers were injured was in the medication room. The professionals with predictors of the risk of work accident are those with 30 years or less. In relation to strategies for the prevention of occupational accidents, it is suggested: structure an institutional training program; Creation of spaces in which nursing workers conduct discussions regarding risk situations and measures that may in fact minimize such conditions; Review flow of care at the emergency room for accident victims; And verify the possibility of accompanying the injured while the same waits for care. Finally, however much companies invest in equipment, materials, physical structure, and in process optimization, what will in fact guarantee their success are the workers.
