Boys at school are often linked to different types of problems, the so-called boy crisis. This study aims to investigate how masculinity is described in report texts and the upper secondary school's regulatory documents and analyze the material based on current research on masculinity and intersectionality. The survey method combines document analysis and an intersectional analysis. The results and analysis show stereotypes of boys and narrow conceptions of gender as well as a strong heteronorm in school. Religious education can serve as a liminal arena where boys can transcend norms and challenge one-sided masculinity conceptions.
