Abstract The purpose of this study is to illustrate pedagogues’ view, experience and use of signing method TAKK (Tecken som Alternativ och Kompletterande Kommunikation). 1. How do pedagogues use TAKK in preschool? 2. When and why is TAKK used in daily activities in preschool? As the theoretical starting point for my study and my research questions I have chosen the didactical theory which focus on language and communication. The study was carried out as a qualitative investigation with interviews as the method. Interviews were done with pedagogues and special pedagogues who work in a preschool environment. In general, the pedagogues have good knowledge about TAKK and are aware of the effects that TAKK has on the development of linguistic and communicative skills of the preschool children. The study also showed that the pedagogues use different strategies to further encourage the linguistic development of the children.Key words: Pedagogue, Signs, TAKK, AKK, Communication. Preschool
