Previous issue date: 2012-08-30 / This study deals with the themes of Education for Youths and Adults, particularly implies
thinking what the causes of dropping out of school by their subjects. In this sense, takes as a
starting point for their analyzes the trajectory of life and six school alumni escapees EJA in
the municipal Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins. To endorse their analysis, is used as
theoretical writers such as Marx (2001), Ianni (1998), Bobbio (2004), Freire (1987), among
others. The studies helped this researcher to understand the object of this research, from the
discussions on the right to education, which is the EJA as education modality, the profile of
the subjects of this kind, as well as mediations that enabled explain the causes of truancy these
subjects. The place of apprehension of these analyzes occurred from the Constitutions, Legal
Documents, speeches and national and international movements, as well as the speech of
individuals surveyed. For this research different instruments were used: semistructured
interview using the recorder and document analysis (investigation of individual student
records, minutes of the final results and file liabilities) in the school studied. As for the
results, it was found that one of the most striking facts related to evasion of the subjects
studied is mainly linked to the issue of own work of former students, he also being the main
reason for seeking the return to school, and other factors as health problems, family problems,
housing distant, and intergenerational conflicts within the school. Likewise, this study was
instructive in the sense of understanding that research on the Education of Youth and Adults
can not ignore analysis that approach this topic in the field of the contradictions and social
exclusion. So what should be at issue in these studies is primarily what the subjects think,
live, express, give sense and meaning to education. / Este estudo trata da temática da Educação de Jovens e Adultos, particularmente naquilo que
implica pensar as causas do abandono da escola por seus sujeitos. Nesse sentido, toma como
ponto de partida para suas análises a trajetória de vida e escolar de seis ex-alunos evadidos da
EJA na Rede Pública Municipal de Palmas, Capital do Estado do Tocantins. Para referendar
suas análises, utiliza-se como referenciais teóricos autores, tais como Marx (2001), Ianni
(1998), Bobbio (2004), Freire (1987), dentre outros. Os estudos ajudaram este pesquisador a
compreender o objeto desta pesquisa, a partir das discussões sobre o direito à educação,
sobrea EJA como modalidade de educação, o perfil dos sujeitos dessa modalidade, bem como
as mediações que possibilitaram explicar as causas da evasão escolar desses sujeitos. O lugar
de apreensão destas análises se deu a partir das Constituições, Documentos Legais, dos
discursos e movimentos nacionais e internacionais, bem como das falas dos sujeitos
pesquisados. Para essa pesquisa foram utilizados diferentes instrumentos: entrevista
semiestruturada com a utilização de gravador e análise documental (investigação de fichas
individuais de alunos, atas de resultados finais e o arquivo passivo) na escola pesquisada.
Quanto aos resultados, pôde-se verificar que um dos fatos mais marcantes relacionados à
evasão dos sujeitos pesquisados está vinculado principalmente à questão do próprio trabalho
dos ex-alunos, sendo ele também o principal motivo da procura pelo retorno à escola, além de
outros fatores como: problemas de saúde, problemas familiares, moradias distantes, e
conflitos intergeracionais dentro da escola. Da mesma forma, este estudo foi elucidativo no
sentido de apreender que uma pesquisa sobre a Educação de Jovens e Adultos não pode
prescindir de análises que aproximem esta temática do campo das contradições e exclusão
social. Portanto, o que deve estar em causa nesses estudos é, sobretudo, aquilo que os sujeitos
pensam, vivem, exprimem, significam e dão sentido à educação.
