Detta arbete kommer att handla om ungdomar i årskurs nio och hur de förberett sig inför gymnasievalet. Syftet med arbetet är att se vilka kopplingar som finns mellan prao och val av gymnasieprogram. Respondenterna har gjort sina gymnasieval och har i första hand valt ett yrkesförberedande program. De tjänstemän som har ställt upp på intervjuer har arbetar med prao på olika sätt. Genom semistrukturerade intervjuer som spelats in har vi samlat in data. De teorier som arbetet bygger på är careership-teorin, happenstance learning theory och cognitiv information processing theory. Det som arbetet kommer fram till är vilka kopplingar som kan länkas mellan prao och gymnasieval, som intressen och drömmar. Andra faktorer som har påverkat respondenternas val är till exempel familj och vänner. Det visar sig också att respondenterna ser prao som ett viktigt och roligt inslag i skolgången. Prao låter även elever att reflektera över yrken och hur dessa passar de eller ej. / This thesis will investigate how adolescents in the ninth grade have prepared themselves for the upper secondary school choice. The purpose with this thesis is to see couplings between practical work-experience and upper secondary school programs. The respondents already done their choices and their first choice is vocational programs. The officials that we interviewed has been working with practical working orientation in different ways. We have collected data through semi-structured interviews that has been recorded. The theories we use in the thesis are the careership-theory, happenstance learning theory and cognitive information processing theory. The main results show that the couplings between practical work-experience and upper-secondary school choices are for example interests and dreams about the future. Other factors that have affected the respondents are their friends and family. The respondents also think that practical work-experience is an important and fun element of schooling. Practical work-experience also creates the possibility to try out a profession and then the respondents easier can choose if the profession fits them or not.
