Previous issue date: 2001-08-13 / The theme chosen for this Master s thesis is the vision that the vanquished
Amerindian peoples had after the invasion of the Iberian conquerors. To achieve
this objective, some reports were chosen from the Aztec, Maya and Inca peoples
in which their overwhelming defeat was shown. And in order to better understand
the situation to which they were reduced, the principal characteristics of these
three important peoples of the Americas are succinctly emphasized. Their culture,
religion, art, writing, education, literature and education are studied. The grandeur
of these three peoples becomes evident in these characteristics, and, in their
stories, the pungent reality to which they had been reduced, after being
vanquished by their conquerors, appears. After holy and just wars the Iberians
tried to impose a new culture and a new religion, which led the wise Indians, after
suffering the loss of their identity, to seek death. But not everything can be
considered negative about the arrival of the Iberians. Along with them, came some
authentic prophets who took the side of the Indians, giving their lives to the service
of the Amerindian peoples. / O tema que escolhemos para a dissertação de mestrado é a visão que os
vencidos povos ameríndios tiveram após a invasão dos conquistadores ibéricos.
Para a consecução deste objetivo selecionamos alguns relatos dos povos
astecas, maias e incas onde eles manifestaram sua esmagadora derrota. E, para
compreender melhor a situação a que foram reduzidos, ressaltamos,
sucintamente, as principais características destes três importantes povos das
Américas. Estudamos a cultura deles, sua religião, suas artes, sua escrita, sua
educação, sua literatura e sua arquitetura. Nessas características aparece a
grandeza destes três povos e em seus relatos, após serem vencidos pelos
conquistadores, aparece a pungente realidade a que forma reduzidos. Os ibéricos
tentaram, após guerras santas e justas , impor uma nova cultura, uma nova
religião que levaram os sábios indígenas a pediram a morte que sofrerem a perda
de sua identidade. Mas, nem tudo foi negativo na vinda dos ibéricos. Junto com
eles vieram alguns autênticos profetas que se colocaram na defesa dos índios e
deram sua vida em favor dos povos ameríndios.
