Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka vilka erfarenheter och tankar socialsekreterare har gällande sitt arbete med barns rättigheter sedan barnkonventionen inkorporerats i svensk lagstiftning. Studien baseras på tidigare forskning om barnkonventionen, barns rättigheter och inkorporering av konventionen i lagstiftning. Studien grundas på sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med socialsekreterare på socialtjänstens olika mottagnings- och utredningsenheter i en mellanstor kommun i Sverige. Intervjumaterialet analyserades utifrån teoretiska begreppen handlingsutrymme, barnperspektiv, barns perspektiv och barnrättsperspektiv. Resultatet visar att inkorporeringen av barnkonventionen har skapat möjligheter och framgångar i form av att socialsekreterarna kan använda konventionen som strategiskt verktyg, konventionen hålls mer levande i samtal mellan kollegor och ledning samt att socialsekreterarna fått en ökad medvetenhet om barns rättigheter. Resultatet visar även att de faktorer som påverkar förutsättningarna för att tillämpa barnkonventionen i praktiken är brist på kunskap hos socialsekreterarna gällande barns rättigheter, avsaknad av upprättade rutiner, den enskildes socialsekreterarens handlingsutrymme och lagstiftning som krockar. Studiens slutsats är att det finns flera faktorer, på olika nivåer som påverkar hur barns rättigheter implementeras och tillämpas i praktiken och det är ett fortgående arbete som kommer att ta tid. / The aim of this study is to inquire into which experiences and thoughts social workers have regarding their work with children's rights since the Convention on the Rights of the Child has been incorporated into Swedish legislation. The study is based on previous research on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, children's rights and the incorporation of the Convention into legislation. The study is based on six semi-structured interviews with social secretaries at the social services' various reception and investigation units in a medium-sized municipality in Sweden. The interview material was analyzed on the basis of theoretical concepts of room for maneuver, child perspective, children's perspective and children's rights perspective. The results shows that the incorporation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child has created opportunities and successes in the form of the social secretaries being able to use the convention as a strategic tool, the convention is kept more alive in conversations between colleagues and management and the social secretaries have become more aware of children's rights. The results also shows that the factors that affect the conditions for applying the Convention on the Rights of the Child in practice are a lack of knowledge among social workers regarding children's rights, lack of established routines, the individual social secretary's room for maneuver and conflicting legislation. The study concludes that there are several factors, at different levels that affect how children's rights are implemented and applied in practice and it is an ongoing work that will take time.
