Miljöteknik i bilderböcker : En semiotisk bildanalys / Environmental technology in picture books : A semiotic image analysis

The purpose of the study is to find out whether environmental technology is made visible in picture books. The study was based on three questions, the first question is about how technology`s impact on the environment society is made visible in picture books, the second question is about how picture books highlight the concept of sustainable development together with technology and the third deals with what variations of technology that picture books highlight. Lookups in four picture books have been analyzed using a semiotic analytical framework. The results of the study show that the picture books contain technology as in technical solutions, technical systems, simple garden tools and technology that has a negative impact on the environment. From an environmental perspective I found, local waste management, materialrecycling, management of the local environment as gardening and negative environmental impact of technology use. Environmental technology, which is technology that is consciously used to improve our environment, exist in the form of local waste management, materialrecycling, there is also the basis for environmental technology as garden tools. The conclusion of the study is that three out of four of the picture books contain some form of environmental technology. Recommendations for preschool teachers are to use picture book as a work tool in work projects on the impact of technology on the environment. Start with the small things, for example tools and then work on to get the whole of technology`s impact on the environment.
