Utgångspunkten i det här arbetet var att studera hur ett digitalt interaktivt läromedel för nya användare kan utformas genom text och bild i samverkan. Arbetet gjordes i uppdrag av Eskilstuna kommun med syftet att informera min målgrupp om Geografiska informationssystem (GIS). Den primära målgruppen för det här arbetet är anställa i Eskilstuna kommun som är nya användare av GIS. GIS är digitala kartor i 2D eller 3D som kan användas för insamling, lagring, analysering och presentation av lägesbunden information. Det finns ingen garanti för att bilder tillsammans med text kan öka förståelsen i ett läromedel, utan det är viktigt att bilden har ett syfte och att användarna förstår den. Främsta teoretiska utgångspunkterna har därför varit om text och bild i samverkan samt bilder i läromedel. På grund av det digitala mediet har även teorier kring digitala läromedel, att skriva och läsa digitalt samt god användarbarhet på en webbsida används. Teorier om user centered design användes också för att kunna uppnå de nya användarnas behov. Metoder som genomfördes i det här arbetet var en omvärldsanalys, kvalitativa intervjuer och en utprovning. Genom omvärldsanalysen, de kvalitativa intervjuerna, tidigare forskning och teorier utformades ett gestaltningsförslag för ett läromedel om GIS. Det testades sedan i utprovningen av nya användare av GIS. Resultatet blev att samspelet mellan text och bild fungerade bra och att de tillsammans bidrog till en ökad förståelse. / The starting point of this work was to study how a digital interactive teaching material for new users can be designed through text and image in collaboration. The work has been done on behalf of Eskilstuna kommun, and the goal was to inform my target group about Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The primary target group for this work are employees in Eskilstuna kommun who are new users of GIS. GIS are digital maps in 2D or 3D that can be used for gathering, storing, analyzing and presenting location-based information. There is no guarantee that images together with text can increase the understanding of a teaching material. It is important that the image has a purpose and that users understands it. Because of that the main theoretical focus have been about text and image in collaboration, as well as pictures in teaching materials. Because of the digital media, I have also used theories about Digital teaching materials, digital writing and reading and good usability on the web. Theories about user centered design were also used to achieve the needs of the new users. I have used world analysis, qualitative interviews and a user test as methods in this work. Through the world analysis and qualitative interviews, as well as previous research and theories, a design proposal was drafted for a teaching material about GIS. It was then tested in the user testing of new GIS users. As a result, the collaboration between text and image worked well and contributed to an increased understanding.
