Uppsatsen behandlar ett dräkthistoriskt ämne om västsvenska prästfruars dräktskick under gustaviansk tid, med utgångspunkt i främst bouppteckningar och porträtt. Grundarbetet är att kartlägga dräktskick hos ett urval prästfruar som avled 1785-1820 genom att sammanställa, beskriva och analysera vad de hade i garderoben när de dog. Syftet med uppsatsen är att ge ett bidrag till kunskapen om den gustavianska tidens dräktskick, genom att särskilt glänta på dörren till prästfruns garderob och beskriva vad som faktiskt fanns där utifrån vad vi kan veta från uppgifter i bouppteckningar och med illustration i porträtt. Prästfruns klädedräkt inte specialstuderats tidigare, särskilt inte utifrån ett västsvenskt perspektiv. Därför lämnas ett förhållandevis stort utrymme i uppsatsen för deskriptiv genomgång av de kläder som bouppteckningarna tar upp beträffande material och modeller. Därutöver belyses frågeställningar om dräktskickets koppling till prästfruroll och ståndstillhörighet. / The essay deals with a costume history topic about the costume condition of West Swedish wifes to clergymen during Gustavian times, based on mainly estate records and portraits. The basic work is to map the costume of a selection of vicars wifes who died 1785-1820 by compiling, describing and analyzing what they had in the wardrobe when they died. The purpose of the essay is to make a contribution to the knowledge of the costume condition of the Gustavian era, by opening the door to the vicar’s wife's wardrobe and describing what was actually there based on what we can know from information in estate records and with illustration in portraits. The costume of wifes to clergymen has not been specially studied before, especially not from a West Swedish perspective. Therefore, a relatively large space is left in the essay for a descriptive review of the clothes that the estate records take up regarding materials and models. In addition, questions about the dress code's connection to the role of wife of a vicar and affiliation are highlighted.
