Vårt syfte är att undersöka om och i så fall hur införandet av pilotprojektet “tidig inskrivning” inom ekonomiskt bistånd på socialtjänst Väster påverkar socialsekreterarnas arbete. Vidare är vårt syfte att undersöka om och i så fall hur arbetssättet inom projektet inverkar på hur socialsekreterarna uppfattar sin yrkesroll. Utifrån detta syfte valdes en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer för insamling av vår empiri. Examensarbetets resultat bygger på intervjuer med sex socialsekreterare som arbetar med ekonomiskt bistånd inom pilotprojektet. För att analysera vårt insamlade material har vi använt oss av delar av domänteori för socialt arbete samt de teoretiska begreppen yrkes- och organisationsprofessionalism. Våra resultat visar att socialsekreterarnas dagliga arbete och arbetssätt har påverkats av pilotprojektet, denna påverkan är emellertid liten i omfattning. Det går även utifrån resultatet att utläsa att projektet tydliggör aktivering som en central princip för arbetet inom ekonomiskt bistånd vilket ligger i linje med tidigare forskning. De medverkande socialsekreterarna upplever att deras yrkesroll förändrats om än endast lite. De upplever att det blivit tydligare både för dem och för klienterna att de främst arbetar med andra delar av det sociala arbetet än planeringen mot självförsörjning. Slutligen kan vi utifrån vårt resultat se att såsom arbetet är utformat och de förändringar som projektet medför förstärker organisationens inflytande på yrkesrollen och professionen, vilket kan förklaras genom begreppet organisationsprofessionalism. Detta eftersom professionens intressen överskuggas av organisationens och professionens handlingsutrymme begränsas. The aim of this study is to explore if and in that case how a new project called “tidig inskrivning” implemented at socialtjänst Väster affects the social service workers job within social assistance. Furthermore, our aim is to explore if and in that case how the project affects the social service workers perception of their profession. Based on this aim, a qualitative approach was chosen with semistructured interviews as the basis for collecting our empirical data. The results of our study are based on interviews with six social service worker who work with social assistance within the project. To analyze our empirical data, we have used parts of the domain theory for social work together with the theoretical concepts professional and organizational professionalism. Our findings show that the daily work and working methods of the social service workers have been affected by the project, however this impact is small. It is also shown in the results that the project clarifies activation as a central principle in social service workers way in which they perform their work. Due to that activation becomes an important central guiding principle that directly affects the social service workers within the project. This focus on activation is also correspondent with the previous research we discussed in our study. This also has an impact on how the social service workers experience their profession, that it is more clear both for them and for their clients that the aim is self support and that the social service workers mostly focus on other social matters. Finally, on the basis of our results, we can conclude that social service workers tend to work on the basis of organizational professionalism, as the profession's own interests are secondary to the organization due to restricted discretion.
