As a result of the digitalization a lot of different media have gone through a radical changein a short period of time. The process of writing and publishing books has been virtuallyunchanged for hundreds of years, but not even the oldest of media productions remainsunfazed by digitalization. This study aims to bring to light the different opportunities aswell as setbacks the book publishing industry is forced to face as digitalization influencesall of media. When you have been doing something for hundreds of years and all of asudden you have to change your whole operation, it is bound to take some time to get itunder way. This is essentially the basis of what the book publishers are left to deal with intoday’s digitalized society. In direct correlation to the current confusion at the publishersthe authors are having a difficult time getting their books published through thetraditional publisher and are therefore looking for alternative channels. In this paper theprevailing interaction between author, publisher and reader will be examined in view ofall the new aspects digitalization has brought to the table of book publishing.
