Ao tomarmos conhecimento de que algumas escolas vêm utilizando o suporte jornal escolar como um meio para a publicação dos textos produzidos pelos alunos, elegemos nosso objetivo principal: analisar a relevância do jornal escolar para a produção de textos de diferentes gêneros textuais/discursivos no ensino e aprendizagem da língua materna. Para fundamentarmos o nosso estudo, tomamos como base a teoria dos gêneros do discurso na perspectiva de Bakhtin (1997) e do interacionismo sócio-discursivo de Bronckart (1999; 2006). Dentro desse contexto, fazemos ainda uma breve discussão dos gêneros textuais relacionada ao ensino e aprendizagem da língua materna com base em Marcuschi (2002), Oliveira (2010) e Dolz e Schneuwly (2004). Para compreendermos melhor o nosso objeto de pesquisa, fazemos uma abordagem histórica do jornal escolar, da sua origem ao seu uso na atualidade em escolas brasileiras. Nessa discussão nos apoiamos especialmente na questão relacionada ao jornal escolar defendida por Freinet (1974), na pedagogia de Freire (1981; 2004) e nas experiências com esse suporte vivenciadas por pesquisadores como Santos (1993), Ijuim (2005) e Baltar (2006). Nosso enfoque teórico se encerra com uma concisa classificação de alguns gêneros jornalísticos que podem ser encontrados nos jornais escolares, cuja fundamentação se encontra em Melo (1985), Lage (1998; 2001) e outros autores. Para a concretização deste trabalho optou-se pela pesquisa empírica com a utilização da metodologia do estudo de caso sobre o jornal "Galera Roldão", produzido por uma escola do litoral catarinense. As técnicas de pesquisa utilizadas foram entrevistas semi-estruturadas e análise de dados secundários. Nesse processo, foram entrevistados educadores e alunos envolvidos com o projeto do jornal e ainda funcionários e alguns pais de alunos. Simultaneamente, foi feita a identificação e classificação dos gêneros de textos publicados nas seis edições do jornal tema deste estudo. Finalizando este trabalho, analisamos os dados coletados à luz do referencial teórico adotado nesta pesquisa e, entre alguns resultados obtidos, constatamos que o uso do jornal escolar propicia ao aluno a possibilidade de contato, produção e apropriação de diversos gêneros textuais, além de posicionamento crítico em relação à escrita, maior interesse pela leitura e preocupação em escrever com mais clareza, além de vários outros resultados que poderão contribuir tanto para o ensino e aprendizagem da língua materna como para as demais disciplinas do currículo escolar, contribuindo, assim, para o desenvolvimento da competência discursiva escrita do educando / This essay had its origin from the concern of studying teaching and learning alternatives of the mother tongue that have as basis the text genres / discourses. When we become aware that some schools are using as support the school newspaper as means for the publication of the texts produced by students, we chose our main objective: to analyze the relevance of the school newspaper for the production of texts of different genres textual/discursive in mother tongue teaching and learning. In support to our study, we used as basis the theory of speech genres in the context of Bakhtin (1997) and Bronckart's socio-discursive interactionism (1999, 2006). Within this context, we also have a brief discussion of the text genres related to teaching and learning of mother tongue based on Marcuschi (2002), Oliveira (2010) and Schneuwly and Dolz (2004). In order to understand better the object of our research, we make a historic approach of the school newspaper from its origin to its current use in Brazilian schools. In this discussion we especially rely on the point that relates to the school newspaper defended by Freinet (1974), on the Freire pedagogy (1981, 2004) and on experiences with this support done by researchers as Santos (1993), Ijuim (2005) and Baltar (2006). Our theoretical approach ends with a concise classification of some journalistic genres that can be found in school newspapers, whose fundament is seen in Melo (1985), Lage (1998, 2001) and others. The achievement of this work was chosen by empirical research using the methodology of case study of the newspaper #Galera Roldão#,produced by a school of Santa Catarina coast. The research techniques used were semi-structured interviews and secondary data analysis. In this process, we interviewed teachers and students involved with the newspaper project and also the staff and some of students` parents. Simultaneously, the complete identification and classification of texts genres published in six editions of the newspaper, theme of this study. In order to finalize this work, we analyzed data collected in the light of the adopted methodology in this research, and among some of the results obtained, we found that the use of school newspaper gives students the possibility of contact, creation and use of several text genres, besides critical position in relation to writing, greater interest in reading and concern to writing more clearly, and many other results that may contribute to both teaching and learning of mother tongue as for the other disciplines of the school curriculum, thus contributing to the development of discursive competence of the student writing
