Previous issue date: 2015-06-19 / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar as diferentes faces que uma manifestação cultural juvenil pode assumir no contexto contemporâneo. Nossa proposta é investigar o movimento hip hop, entender como uma série de práticas espontâneas se transformou em um evento global, com características comerciais estruturadas, que mobiliza um grande número de jovens em todo o mundo. Para compreendermos a multiplicidade de relações estabelecidas no interior do universo juvenil, optamos por uma abordagem a partir do viés cultural, entendendo que este seja um campo interessante para analisarmos as práticas, representações e símbolos que definem a juventude contemporânea. Uma subcultura se vale de diferentes artifícios para afirmar sua especificidade. Desta forma, diferentes elementos da indústria cultural – discos, filmes, roupas e livros – são apropriados como aparatos de sustentação de sua identidade. Dentro das diferentes perspectivas de análise desse conjunto comunicativo, optamos por selecionar a indumentária, considerando a importância que esta assume na construção da identidade de um grupo que tem a necessidade em se afirmar. Entendemos que o hip hop, enquanto movimento cultural, é herdeiro de uma tradição afro-americana de resistência a uma condição subalterna em que estes foram submetidos desde os primórdios da própria história. Nesse sentido, investigamos a trajetória do negro em sua busca por identidade, apresentando as peculiaridades deste processo no contexto brasileiro e norte-americano. / This study aims to analyze the different faces that a juvenile cultural manifestation can take in the contemporary context. Our proposal is to investigate the hip hop movement, understand how a series of spontaneous practices has turned into a global event, with structured commercial characteristics, which mobilizes a large number of young people around the world. To understand the multiplicity of relationships established within the juvenile universe, we opted for an approach from cultural bias, understanding this to be an interesting field to analyze the practices, representations and symbols that define the contemporary youth. A subculture draws on different devices to assert its specificity. In this way, different elements of the culture industry - records, films, clothing and books - are suitable as apparatuses support of their identity. Within the different perspectives of analysis of this communication set, we chose to select the clothing, considering the importance that this assumes the construction of the identity of a group that has the need to be said. We understand that hip hop as a cultural movement, is heir to a african-American tradition of resistance to an inferior condition in which they were submitted since the dawn of history itself. In this sense, we investigate the trajectory of black in their search for identity, presenting the peculiarities of this process in the Brazilian and North American context.
