Background - The trend of new soccer stadiums took off in England and the three key factors of this trend where security, economic value and growth. In the early 2000s the trend came to Sweden and Växjö. The soccer stadium, Värendsvallen were old and needed modernization. Purpose - The overall purpose of this study is to understand how Östers IF as a nonprofit organization has organized themselves when planning a large and complex project as the construction of a new soccer stadium. It also aims to portray how Östers IF has moved from concept to reality with the new soccer stadium. Method - The case study of the project organization in Östers IF where made using semi-structured interviews and participant observations. We use herme- neutics to interpret the empirical material we obtained from interviews and observations. A abduction approach has been used when we repeat- edly have been moving between theory and empiricism. Conclusion - Östers IF has been forced to create a corporation, Fotbollsfastigheter i Växjö AB, to able be plan the new soccer stadium and handle the organizational and financial risks that the project will bring. Contrary to what some of the previous research presents we have identified two clients and two contractors in this process. / Bakgrund - Trenden om nya fotbollsarenor tog fart i England under 1990-talet och de tre nyckelfaktorerna säkerhet, kommersiellt värde och tillväxt låg tillgrund för denna trend. Till Sverige och Växjö kom trenden i början av 2000-talet och den gamla fotbollsarenan, Värendsvallen var nedsliten och en modernisering behövdes. Syfte - Det övergripande syftet med studien är att förstå hur Östers IF som en ideell förening har organiserat sig när man ska driva igenom ett stort och komplext projekt som ett arenabygge. Syftet är också att skildra hur man inom Östers IF har gått från idé till verklighet med den nya fotbollsarenan. Metod - En fallstudie av projektorganiseringen i Östers IF som gjorts med hjälp av semistrukturerade intervjuer och deltagande observationer. Vi använder hermeneutiken för att i analysen tolka det empiriska material vi har erhållit från intervjuer och observationer. Ett abduktivt synsätt har använts då vi gång på gång har rört oss mellan teori och empiri. Slutsats - Med tanke på de organisatoriska och ekonomiska risker som arenabygget för med sig har Östers IF varit tvungna att skapa ett bolag, Fotbollsfas- tigheter i Växjö AB, för att kunna driva projektet. Vidare har vi till skillnad från vad en del av tidigare forskning presenterar identifierat två be- ställare och två uppdragstagare i denna process.
