When the fantasized infant is born with a disability, however, this may bring an impact in the family, creating new ways of relationships. Sometimes, the extensive family, such as grandparents, and other relatives, or even other systems outside the family may help to relieve the stress caused by the infant`s disability. Studies suggest that grandparents be included in intervention programs because of the importance of their emotional support to the parents. The aim of this research was to observe the interaction between dyads of grandmothers and their disabled infants in a musical activity situation. A sequence of musical activities was organized, from listening to short classical pieces, dancing, rhythmic following, free instruments exploration, with 45 minutes duration, being the dyads accompanied by the researcher and another trained observer. Results suggest that musical context may help interaction between grandmother and grandchild. Musical elements, including the musical instruments were facilitators of infants and grandmothers emotional expressions, starting positive emotions and attitudes, most of the time. Infants, although disabled, showed ability to experience musical activities, as well as establishing new intersubjective exchanges, confirming assertions of authors studied in the theoretical references. / A chegada de um filho é sempre cercada de expectativas. Porém, quando o bebê imaginado nasce com alguma deficiência, isso pode acarretar um impacto na família gerando novas dinâmicas de relacionamento. Muitas vezes a família extensa, como avós, e parentes mais próximos, ou outros sistemas fora dela, podem contribuir para aliviar o stress causado pela deficiência. Estudos sugerem que os avós sejam incluídos nos programas de intervenção, pois o apoio emocional oferecido por eles é importante. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi observar a interação dos avós e seus netos/bebês deficientes em um contexto de atividade musical. Para isso foi organizada uma seqüência de atividades musicais, contemplando desde a audição de pequenas peças clássicas, danças, acompanhamento rítmico, exploração livre de instrumentos, com duração de 45minutos, onde a dupla esteve acompanhada da pesquisadora e de uma observadora treinada. Os resultados sugerem que o contexto musical pode favorecer a interação dos avós e seus netos. Os elementos musicais, incluindo os instrumentos utilizados foram facilitadores da expressão emocional dos bebês e das avós, despertando, na maioria das vezes, emoções e atitudes positivas. Os bebês, mesmo com deficiência, mostraram-se aptos a vivenciarem atividades musicais, bem como estabelecerem trocas intersubjetivas, confirmando as afirmações dos autores abordados nas referências teóricas.
