Under lång tid har det riktats kritik mot restriktionstillämpningen i Sverige eftersom det finns en risk att den isolering som restriktionerna medför påverkar klienternas hälsa negativt. Kriminalvårdarna har en viktig uppgift i att försöka minska de negativa följderna genom att isoleringsbryta individerna. Problemet är att den höga arbetsbelastningen har lett till att kriminalvårdarna inte kan utföra de vårdarna uppgifterna i den utsträckning som det finns behov av. Av den anledningen har fem kriminalvårdare intervjuats i syfte att undersöka hur de upplever förutsättningarna för att bryta isoleringen för häktade under restriktioner. Uppsatsen ämnar även studera vilka arbetsuppgifter och egenskaper kriminalvårdarna anser är viktiga i arbetet. Resultatet visar att kriminalvårdarna upplevde att deras arbete underlättats de två senaste åren, men att bristande personalresurser och lokalmässiga hinder påverkade möjligheterna att bryta isoleringen i den utsträckning de skulle vilja. Vidare visar resultatet att en viktig arbetsuppgift var att upprätthålla säkerheten på grund av kollusionsfaran, men viktigare ansågs det vara att vidta de åtgärder som behövs för att förbättra klienternas hälsa. Till sist kunde uppsatsen finna att kriminalvårdarnas arbete på restriktionshäkten är känslomässigt påfrestande, och därför var viktiga egenskaper hos kriminalvårdarna att ha en humanistisk syn, att kunna känna empati samt att upprätthålla ett professionellt förhållningssätt. / Criticism has been directed towards Sweden because of the use of restrictions in jails. There is a risk that the isolation, which comes with restrictions, can have a negative effect on the health of the clients. The prison officers have an important role in trying to reduce the negative effects by breaking the isolation. The problem is that the high workload has made the prison officers unable to perform the tending tasks that are needed. For this reason, five prison officers were interviewed in order to examine how they perceived the conditions to break the isolation of the detainees with restrictions. The thesis also aimed to study which functions and characteristics that the prison officers considered essential in their work. The result shows that the prison officers felt that their work had become easier during the last two years, but the lack of human resources and sufficient facilities have affected the possibilities to break the isolation of the clients. Further, the result shows that an important task was to maintain security due to the risk of detainees tampering with evidence. However, to take the measures needed to improve the health of the clients was considered even more important. Finally, the essay found that the work of the prisons officers in jails which use restrictions was emotionally stressful. Therefore it was considered important to have a humanistic approach, to be able to empathize and to maintain a professional attitude.
