Bakgrund: Beröring är en form av icke-verbal kommunikation som sjuksköterskan ofta stöter på i vårdandet av andra. Beröring kan användas av sjuksköterskan för att exempelvis förmedla tröst eller förståelse. Man kan dela upp fysisk beröring i två former, instrumental och expressiv beröring, men dessa går inte att helt skiljas åt. Sjuksköterskan behöver ta hänsyn till att alla patienter inte kommer vara bekväma med beröring samt hålla deras integritet i åtanke. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att belysa hur sjuksköterskan beskriver sina erfarenheter och upplevelser av fysisk beröring i en omvårdnadskontext. Metod: En litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats som följde Polit och Becks niostegsmodell. 12 artiklar inkluderades och analyserades med tematisk analys enligt Braun och Clarke. Resultat: Två teman identifierades: Vårdande möten och När beröring inte är självklart. Inom första temat identifierades tre subteman: Beröring är essentiellt för omvårdnad, En väg till patienten och För att lindra lidande. Inom andra temat identifierades två subteman: Ta hänsyn till patientens integritet och förutsättningar samt Osäkerhet hos män att använda beröring. Slutsats: Beröring är en essentiell del av sjuksköterskans arbete och förmågan att implementera det på ett gott sätt påverkas av faktorer som kön, integritet, religion och kultur. Den personliga preferensen hos sjuksköterskan påverkar hur de använder sig av beröring. / Background: Touch is a form of non-verbal communication that nurses often come across when caring for others. The nurse can use touch to convey comfort, understanding or to build a rapport with the patient. Physical touch can be divided into two categories, instrumental and expressive touch, but these two cannot be fully separated from each other. The nurse needs to consider that not all patients will be comfortable with being touched and to keep the patient’s integrity in mind. Aim: The aim of this study was to illustrate how nurses describe their experiences of using physical touch in a caring setting. Method: A literature review with a qualitative approach that followed Polit and Beck’s nine step model. 12 articles were included and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s method of thematic analysis. Results: Two themes were identified: Caring meetings and When touch isn’t a given. The first theme contains three subthemes: Touch is essential for nursing, A way to the patient and To ease suffering. The second theme contains two subthemes: Taking patient integrity and conditions into account and Insecurity in men in using touch. Conclusions: Touch is an essential part of the nurses’ work, the ability to implement it well is affected by factors like gender, integrity, religion and culture. The nurse’s personal preferences influence how they use touch.
