Introduktion: Pandemin Covid-19 innebar ett helt nytt scenario med en snabb och stor omställning för hela hälso- och sjukvården. Flera operationssjuksköterskor fick ändrade arbetsuppgifter och arbetade på andra enheter under pandemin Covid-19. De ställdes därmed inför nya krav. I och med operationssjuksköterskors specifika yrkeskompetens arbetar de traditionellt sällan utanför operationsavdelningen. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva operationssjuksköterskors upplevelser av att ställas inför nya krav under pandemin Covid-19. Metod: Kvalitativ intervjustudie med induktiv ansats. Sammanlagt intervjuades 14 kvinnliga operationssjuksköterskor. Intervjuerna analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Resultatet presenterades i tre huvudkategorier: ansträngande omständigheter, arbete utan vägledning och stabilitet i det nya. Av dessa huvudkategorier utformades åtta underkategorier. Konklusion: Operationssjuksköterskorna upplevde att de arbetade under ansträngande omständigheter och där de försökte finna stabilitet i arbetet. De upplevde att de hade bristfällig vägledning men de fick också möjlighet att ta del av nya erfarenheter. Kunskap från resultatet i studien kan möjliggöra identifiering av de områden som kan utvecklas och förbättras för att främja goda arbetsförhållanden för operationssjuksköterskor under eventuellt kommande extraordinära händelser. / Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic meant a completely new scenario with a rapid and major change for the entire health care. Several operating room nurses were given shifted tasks and worked in other units during the Covid-19 pandemic. They were therefore faced with new requirements. Due to the very specific professional competence of operating room nurses, they traditionally don’t work outside the operating department. Aim: The aim of the study was to describe operating room nurses experiences of being faced with new requirements during the Covid -19 pandemic. Method: Qualitative interview study with inductive approach. A total of 14 female operating room nurses were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: The result were presented in three main categories: exhausting circumstances, working without guidance and stability in the new. Of these main categories, eight subcategories were designed. Conclusion: The operating room nurses worked under exhausting circumstances and they tried to find stability at work. They had inadequate guidance, but they also had the opportunity to take part of new experiences. Knowledge from the result of the study can enable the identification of the areas that can be developed and improved to promote good working conditions for operating room nurses during any future extraordinary events.
