För ca 10 år sedan genomförde Försvarsmakten en reformering av sin yrkesofficerskår. Den sedan 1983 enhetliga befälskåren delades i två kategorier med olika yrkesroller. Men omorganisationen verkar inte fungera på det sätt Försvarsmakten vill. Uppsatsens syfte är att klarlägga vad som inte blivit som man tänkt och försöka förklara varför. Studien nyttjar en kvantitativ enkätundersökning på yrkesofficerare i armén och kopplar resultatet till teorier som berör organisationsförändring. Resultatet visar inte på något större motstånd mot flerbefälssystem som koncept utan den största avvikelsen i omorganisationen kan hittas i hur officerskategorins inledande karriär ser ut. Det visar sig vara kopplat till starka yrkesmässiga värderingar och däri ligger också del av förklaringen: Försvarsmakten hade inte övertygat sin yrkesofficerskår om nödvändigheten att förändra officerens yrkesroll. / About 10 years ago the Swedish Armed Forces made a reformation of the officers corps. Since 1983 there were only commissioned officers in the armed forces and now it was time to change back into a system with both officers and non-commissioned officers. But the reorganization does not seem to go along with the Swedish Armed Forces intent. The purpose of this thesis is to find out what did not go as intended and try to explain why. This study uses a survey on the non-commissioned and commissioned officer in the army and analyze the result with the help of theories of organizational change. The results show that there are no big resistance against the reform as a general concept but the biggest deviations is to be found in how the officers early careers is manifested. It seems to be connected to strong opinions within the corps and there lies also part of the explanation: The Swedish Armed Forces failed to convince the corps of the necessity to change the role of the officers.
