Esse trabalho propõe uma interpretação das relações entre mães e filhos estabelecidas por Erico Verissimo em O tempo e o vento. Toma como parâmetro as personagens femininas Ana Terra, Bibiana Cambará, Luzia Silva, Maria Valéria e Ismália Caré, e as personagens masculinas Pedro Terra, Bolívar, Licurgo e Rodrigo. Pretende verificar como estas relações condicionam as personagens masculinas e examinar seu significado literário no contexto histórico projetado no texto. As cinco mães estudadas têm importância decisiva na construção da sociedade patriarcal imaginada pelo autor e, assim, constituem personagens basilares do texto. / This work is an interpretation about the relationships between mothers and sons made by Erico Verissimo to his book ´O tempo e o vento`. It takes as a parameter the female characters Ana Terra, Bibiana Cambará, Luzia Silva, Maria Valéria and Ismália Caré, and the male characters Pedro Terra, Bolívar, Licurgo and Rodrigo. It intends to check how these relationships lead the male characters and think about the literary meaning in the historical context projected on the text. The five women studied have a founder importance to the building of the patriarchal society imagined by the author and they are the basic characters of the text.
