life. It is a reflection about the Environmental Protection Area
APA - of the Maracanã
Region and its social and environmental situation. It aims to situate the theoretical issues and
associate them to the practice when presenting the Maracanã Project and its major
representatives: the Environmental Agents. It analyzes the Maracanã Project as a relevant and
strategic proposal of leisure and tourism area in São Luís. It is a study of qualitative and
quantitative approaches with data based on surveys. The results show up the realization of the
process of professional formation of great value and social and economic importance which
the Project has shown. It presents the formation of multiple people in natural areas is the way
for its protection. It argues and confirms that this proposal deserves some highlight as an
institutional and private support in the environmental and social improvement of the area to
reach the sustainable development. It shows that the development of the leisure activities in
natural environments is important to reach and keep a good quality of life because it is
considered a social representation on the semantic field which it is developed the constructor
quality of life on the subjective aspects of well-being, happiness, professional realization,
friendship, personal realization and also objectives whose references are a satisfaction of basic
needs created because of the degree of economic and social development the Maracanã
community. / Este trabalho traz para o debate as relações entre meio ambiente, lazer e qualidade de vida.
Reflete sobre a Área de Proteção Ambiental
APA- da Região do Maracanã e sua situação
social e ambiental. Busca situar os discursos teóricos e vinculá-los à prática na apresentação
do Projeto Maracanã e dos seus maiores representantes: os Agentes Ambientais. Analisa o
Projeto Maracanã como uma proposta relevante e estratégica para a área de lazer e turismo em
São Luís. Trata de um estudo de abordagem quali-quantitativa com dados coletados a partir de
entrevistas. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam a realização de um processo de formação
profissional de notável valor e da importância social e econômica que o Projeto proporcionou.
Mostra que a formação de multiplicadores em áreas naturais é o caminho para sua proteção.
Argumenta e confirma que essa proposta merece destaque no sentido de apoio institucional e
privado na melhoria ambiental e social da área envolvida para alcançar o desenvolvimento
sustentável. Demonstra que o desenvolvimento de atividades de lazer em ambientes naturais é
importante para conquistar e manter uma boa qualidade de vida, pois considera uma
representação social sobre o campo semântico em que se desenvolve o constructo qualidade
de vida, sob os aspectos subjetivos de bem-estar, felicidade, realização profissional, amizade,
realização pessoal e também objetivos, cujas referências são a satisfação das necessidades
básicas e das necessidades criadas pelo grau de desenvolvimento econômico e social da
comunidade do Maracanã.
